Maison de Kathleen
Bienvenue: Welcome to our home in France. We fell in love with the Haute Soane region in France during a holiday. We loved the countryside, the food, the forest, the wine and especially the people. This 200 year old, three-bedroom home is welcoming and provides a comfortable base to explore this beautiful area of France, or just stay at home by the fire with a book and a glass of wine and let the world go by. As this is our holiday home one room is unavailable for rent. Three bedroom home that sleeps 4. The main bedroom (level 2) has one queen bed, upstairs (level 3) has a second bedroom with two double beds. Toilet and bathroom are located on the street level near the main bedroom (level 2). A second fully undercover outdoor toilet (level 1) is outside the lounge room. The lounge is off the kitchen with a comfortable sofa and a enclosed log fire. Off-street parking is available. The kitchen is well equipped. Additionally, there is a laundry and a BBQ. There is an outdoor terrace under a tree which is perfect for sitting in the summer. Guests will have full access to the house, with the exception of one bedroom on level 3 which is closed off. Guests have full access to the garden and garden furniture. Peter and I are not available in person but we have a caretaker who lives in the next street and will be available to let guests in the home and to answer any questions you may have during your stay. The Property and Passavant Village Maison de Kathleen is situated on a large sloping block with a rambling stream at the bottom. Within a short stroll is a decommissioned railway viaduct, now a bike route to a canal 5 km away. From the viaduct you can readily access the village of Passavant. In the village you will find a stunning patisserie/boulangerie and small supermarche. A larger supermarche is in Corre a 10 minute drive where you will find all the supplies you need. There is plenty of wood available for the fire. In the Cristallerie in the neighbouring village of La Rochère you will have the opportunity to see artisans at their craft of glassblowing. Established in 1475 this is the oldest glass factory in France. The local Chalet du lac provides a fabulous meal beside the lake, bookings in the summer months are advisable. There are numerous villages and towns to explore from the historic spa towns of Vittel, Besaçon the birthplace of Victor Hugo, or the thriving city of Nancy. Alternatively, there are plenty of walks in the forest and country markets to explore. In the lounge is a booklet of local attractions, the village and nearby places to visit. Maison de Kathleen is located in the Village of Passavant La Rochère in the Bourgogne Franche-Comte region of France. The closest international airport is Basel Switzerland, approx 2 hour drive. And Vesoul is the closest railway station. There is limited public transport so a car is a must. On-site parking available for 2 cars Please note we do not have wi-fi, TV or radio as we have attempted to make this a home free of technology. There is very limited mobile reception in the village and none in the home. Additionally, there are stairs between each level which may not be suitable for children or people with mobility issues.
