House River - Miradouro

Casa do Rio was born out of a dream with a few years old. A real adventure from the beginning, this was an old house, hidden, covered with rubble and vegetation, where there was no electric current or potable water. The only access to the property was a cobbled path, very narrow where only ox carts and agricultural tractors circulated. What makes this place so special is its beauty, the peace it conveys, the tranquility, the entire surrounding landscape and the Tâmega River that flows through the property inside, 1km from the river front to take your breath away. The Alvão Natural Park is a discovery to be made at least once in a lifetime, and Casa do Rio, located in the town of Atei, municipality of Mondim de Basto, with its four hectares, bathed by the Tâmega river, is a good point of departure. In this municipality it is fantastic to visit Fisgas de Ermelo, the beautiful village of Lamas de Ôlo, Piocas de Cima and Piocas de Baixo, natural lagoons, Crastoeiro, an important fortified settlement from the Iron Age, Monte Farinha, Sanctuary of Nossa Senhora da Graça, the Arco de Baúlhe Railway Museum (where the historic train (Phone number hidden by Airbnb) is kept), among other points of interest.
