Once an old cow shed, Walker’s Rest has been painstakingly renovated into a perfect pad for two with plenty of room for a cot. This beautiful cottage has open plan living, a king-size bedroom which can also be made into a twin and a stunning bathroom with both a bath and walk-in shower. All on one floor, Walker’s Rest is suitable for guests with limited mobility. The kitchen is fully stocked with everything you may need while away from home and a TV and sofa area provides comfort after a long day exploring the country. Our super fast wifi ensures you're never far from the world should you need it but if it's rest and relaxation you're after, Walker's Rest Cottage is the perfect location. There’s a private enclosed patio just outside of the cottage with garden furniture for two people. Walker's Rest is part of Wheeldon Trees Cottages, a stunning retreat of 10 holiday cottages set in one of Derbyshire's most breathtaking valleys. It's close to Buxton and Bakewell in the Peak District National Park and a short drive to historic Chatsworth House and Alton Towers. There's an honesty shop packed with treats, free electric vehicle charging, a children's play area, a laundry, free electric bike hire and acres of land to enjoy. Historic Walker's Rest Cottage is located in one of Derbyshire's most stunning valleys, nestled under High Wheeldon. Breathtaking, with space to breathe, we guarantee vistas with every visit, along with an honesty shop, general store containing anything you may or may not have forgotten, luxury White Company toiletries, the highest of thread counts and the fluffiest towels, free EV charging , our own roasted High Wheeldon Rising fresh coffee, super-fast zooming and delicious food and drink deliveries straight to your cottage from our partnership with Sauced Here. Wheeldon Trees changed hands in June 2021 and since then the new owners have invested heavily in the facilities, including the total renovation of the neighbouring Farmhouse. Our guests can roam throughout our 12 acres of Peak District National Park, making friends with cows and sheep (or the local pub). If you love walking, you can bag a trig by climbing to the top of High Wheeldon directly from your cottage front door. Guests have access to the entire retreat, including children's play area and also have free use of our electric bikes to explore neighbouring villages. We're just a call away if you need us or in the background if you want to get away from it all. You'll often find us gardening or working on projects within the retreat. Wheeldon Trees Cottages is located in one of Derbyshire's most breathtaking valleys, nestled under High Wheeldon in Earl Sterndale, which is close to Buxton and Bakewell. In Buxton you'll find the brand new five star Crescent spa for pampering days out and it's also home to the annual Buxton Festival each year in July. In historic Bakewell, pudding shops abound, alongside stunning cosy cottages. The Peak District National Park offers village after village of charming cottages and things to explore. There's plenty of parking on the retreat and free EV charging if you drive electric. A local bus passes the retreat each day, but if you really want to explore the local area you'll need a car.
