With this apartment located on the second floor of an old listed building of the old city whose charms you begin to discover from the moment you take its staircase built in stone, the harmonious Private Hotels of classical or regency style were built by noble and rich Burgian families... So it is to a form of immersion in this medieval period that you will be invited. Entirely renovated in the 1980's, it mainly accommodates students today. First of all, let's make it clear immediately that even if we have indicated that we can receive a maximum of two people. A couple with a child (not very young as there is no equipment) can be welcomed in these walls because the sleeping solution is there and everything has been planned for this purpose but do not crush the steps. Half-duplex why? Although it is only 40 m2, its ceiling height is such that it has allowed the construction of a mezzanine that covers half of the ground floor (20 m2). Which means that we are not in a context of a 40 m2 studio where a single room would reduce its surface by half. The living space is actually 40 m2 or even 50 m2 without losing the original ceiling height (the photos will speak for themselves). Located in the heart of the city, it is sufficiently integrated to enjoy all amenities (shops, transport, administrations, nearby tourist office, theaters...) but at the same time sufficiently decentralized to avoid all that could make it inconvenient (urban noise, pollution linked to traffic and traffic...) and we wish you to go and discover nearby by some hidden ways some green lungs like the square of Visitendines (the garden of the former Carmel) which have nothing to envy even some of the Lyonnaise's traboules of the Croix-Rousse itself swollen with greenery. The scene is set! Let's talk about the features of the apartment you crossed the threshold. We have shared it in a series of small intimate spaces that can respond to each of the moments that can mark a day. Guided tour. First space, "Night" space of course, on the mezzanine, with a "high-end" Swiss bedding that should satisfy the majority. But if, on some adventures, some people needed the firmness of a Japanese "sleeping", they would find behind their bed, in a space that we wrongly "named" "warehouse", a futon mattress that he could enjoy. Moreover, since the apartment can accommodate a small family (a couple with a child), they would find in this space fitted another new mattress with traditional springs, which can be quite suitable for the third person (the necessary will naturally be available next to it: sheet, sheet cover, pillow, pillowcase...). Second very important space: meals. The "kitchen" area. Naturally, with medieval stamps, we were not going to set up an integrated kitchen on the second floor. However, you will find everything you need (we hope you haven't forgotten anything) to cope with the daily life of the first few days, including a fridge, a hotplate, a microwave, a dishwasher, a coffee machine, an electric kettle and, if we can call it that, a little bit of everything you need to manage your arrival (salt, pepper, spices, cinnamon, oil, provence herbs...) and we certainly forget that. Third space, no longer the preparation of meals but the meals themselves. Given the small size of the 'kitchen' area, you were not going to be served breakfast or lunch here, and you will reach the 'dining' area in full light in the large spaces this time with more than three meters of ceiling and magnificent chatelaine doors specially adapted for the uniqueness of the place. Exposed to the sun almost all day, light is one of the major assets of the layout of the place. Fourth space. The "work" area (we think of professional stays). For the moment, there is only a keyboard and a screen that can be connected to a laptop if you wish and we do not despair of being able to install a state-of-the-art machine (or even a printer for more functionality) with the “écus” that our apartment will have brought us (what it means ). In the meantime, be sure to take advantage of this space, even for reading. We had initially voluntarily kept the blinds of our manufacture on this window because the blades are not made of metal but of plastic. And the result was that, as in the photo, when the sun passes through them, the rays set up diaphanous light that is second to none. But it has a small flaw. Even reassembled, It somewhat interferes with the opening and closing of the window, that is why I decided for the moment to suspend its use so as not to complicate the lives of residents. Fifth space: the small lounge area, with a chess board and possibly a set of checkers by the fireplace (you won't hear the crackling fire as it is no longer in operation but the charm of an age-old fireplace remains intact). Moreover, for businessmen or professionals who would like to receive clients or collaborators in this space without giving them to see the private parts, they will just have to close the big doors to organize a work session or reception quite adapted and rewarding for their activities. 9. Sixth space. The dressing room you left on your right as you entered. It is nevertheless of paramount importance because even if you do not store your luggage there (if you have preferred to store it in the "warehouse"), you can fully enjoy this lock, with a closet, a shoe closet, an ironing table, and if you feel like it (or if necessary, there was a need) to do some cleaning (vacuum cleaner, vaporizer...). 11. With all this visit, we have purposely looked after a whole series of shots and atmospheres in an attempt to restore the soul of this place, the spirit of the place, as the designer friend would have called it, who framed it on the glass door of the building downstairs knowing that nothing replaces the experience. In the meantime, please fill in the log book before leaving so that we can make further improvements to this adventure. See you soon. Jean Bernard PS: With few exceptions, you will not find any personal effects in this apartment. From the moment you receive the keys you will be at home with full enjoyment of all that is there in terms of amenities and storage (cupboards, shelves...) respecting naturally the rules of the condominium. But if you need anything I can answer, you call me and I'll be happy to help you if possible. At a time when our smartphones are almost our drivers, I'm not going to give you an itinerary. Simply, as everyone does, including the locals, next to the house Gorrevod (15th century you can not miss it) there is a small place where you can benefit from 30 minutes free to unload luggage. Then, a short walk around the neighborhood will take you to the Champ de Mars (a 200m walk away) where parking is free.
