The Pigsty at Hippys Farm
The Pigsty is suitable for a maximum of two guests (One pet allowed on request only). The building is a modern comfortable barn conversion situated in an area that was originally part of the farmyard, opposite the old farmhouse cottage and a pretty mill with a view of the village on the hillside where the sun sets. Walking distance to the shop and a local pub for drinks. The property is available from 4pm on your arrival day. The cottage has an open plan living space with underfloor heating, the kitchen area has a fridge, cooker, microwave, washing machine & dishwasher. There is a Smart TV, comfy sofa and table and chairs. There is a shed for storage where there is a small chest freezer. The courtyard garden has a table and chairs and trellis gates to provide a private enclosure. We leave you a welcome pack with tea & coffee, milk, butter, and croissants, scones or bread but not daily breakfast. We are central to many of the well known tourist attractions in this area. Longleat Safari park, Bath, Stourhead, Wells, Glastonbury and Cheddar Gorge and The Mendip hills are all within a comfortable drive for days out. The whole house to yourselves, the courtyard and garden shed for storage. There is no access to the fields or farm animals from The Pigsty but we are in an area where you can go on some wonderful walks, the footpaths are just along the lane. There is a private parking space right outside the cottage. The local pub is 5 minutes walk away, no food here, great for cider & beer and they sometimes live music at the weekends. Other pubs and restaurants are a short drive away in the next village. The village shop is a good size Co-op that sells most things you would need, a short drive or about 15 minutes walk. Happy to do a self check in using the lockbox for the keys or meet you in person as you prefer. The front of our cottage is next to the parking area for The Pigsty so someone is usually around if you need any help, however we use the rear driveway and back garden while guests are staying with us to give you more privacy and a private parking space We are based on the edge a village with many tourist attractions within a short drive, Glastonbury, Wells, Bath, Longleat, Cheddar and Stourhead are all about half an hour away by car. The local area is pretty with footpaths across the fields for walkers. The village pub is a five minute walk, no restaurant there but the other surrounding villages of Mells, Kilmersdon, Holcombe and Leigh on Mendip all have pubs with restaurants. There is very little public transport in this area, you really do need a car to get around. If you plan to bring a pet with you (just one allowed) Please could you let me know so we can prepare the house properly for you. To get the most out of staying here a car is essential, public transport is only from the top of the village a mile away and is scarce.
