Two balconies which are south-facing enjoy stunning views over the Nervia valley. Fantastic location to explore area around both the French and Italian Riviera. The 'real Italy!' Visit the Grand Prix in Monaco and retreat to your own piece of paradise in the evening! Charming 500 year old townhouse on 4 levels. The property is south facing and gets the sun all year round, yet in the summer the thick walls keep it lovely and cool after a day in the sun. On the ground floor is the kitchen/dining-room with beautiful vaulted ceiling. A bedroom with 3 beds and a bathroom with shower is on the second floor. On the third floor is the master bedroom with stunning views. On the top floor is the bright, sunny living room where the views get even better! One can gaze out at night and see the village of Castelvittorio seemingly suspended in the air. The living room has a large comfortable sofa which turns into a double bed. It has a cathedral ceiling and french doors leading onto two small balconies. The house is very quaint but has all the mod cons for your comfort. The property has rare vehicle access close to the front door for unloading and there is parking 100m away. We have central heating making the house lovely and cosy for those winter nights. In the kitchen there is a cooker, fridge-freezer, microwave,washing-machine, toaster, kettle, iron, ironing board, hairdryer and all cooking utensils. We also have a high-chair, sterilizer and baby bottle warmer. Fully furnished living room with TV (We have freeview channels), DVD player, comfortable sofa-bed (double). There is a choice of books and DVDs which guests are welcome to use. There are brand new bunk-beds in the small bedroom with a third bed which pulls out from underneath. All have lovely comfortable mattresses making the beds suitable for adults as well as children. Additional fee payable locally for cleaning. Linen and towels included. We respectfully ask that the property be left tidy and all rubbish be removed from the property. The house has central-heating. Small children would have to be supervised carefully because of the stairs and balconies although we do have two stair gates. We have an English-speaking representative who would meet you with the keys and offer any advice needed. Everyone comments on how helpful she is and how she goes out of her way to make guests' stay as enjoyable as possible. A welcome pack of tea, coffee, a bottle of wine, bread, jam, biscuits and toilet rolls is provided on arrival. Sorry, no smoking or pets allowed. Because the house is on four levels it may not be suitable for those with mobility problems and small children would have to be very carefully supervised because of the stairs and balconies Two balconies on the top floor large enough to sit out and enjoy a drink whilst enjoying the beautiful views. The balconies are south-facing and because of the house's high position in the village enjoy the sun all year round. Everything in the village is within easy walking distance, piazza, bars, shops and restaurants. 40 minutes driving from Monaco and Monte Carlo where there is much to see including the Palace, museums and Casino and in the other direction San Remo for those who like to shop. 90 minutes from Ski resort of Limone. We are only 25 minutes from France and 20 minutes from Ventimiglia where the famous international market is held every Friday. You can explore the artists village of Bussanna Vecchia which was hit by an earthquake and abandoned many years ago. It has now been restored. Pigna has a bank, two pizzeria, a trattoria which sells traditional home-cooked Italian food, a highly-regarded Ligurian restaurant (the latter two are both mentioned in the Guardian article by Joshua Stein) and a four star spa hotel with a restaurant, swimming pool and beauty treatments. There are many more restaurants in the vicinity. It has 3 grocery shops and a chemist. There are beautiful natural swimming holes dotted around the village if you want a change from the beach. A nearby campsite has a swimming pool which can be used for a small fee - they even allow you to take your own food and drink. In the Summer the village is host to numerous dances and cultural events. The village is very child-friendly with a playground, football pitch and a tennis court. For the more active guests there are lots of designated walks around Pigna. The house is less than a minutes walk to the Piazza where in the Summer months everyone sits and enjoys a drink and watches the world go by! On a Saturday the market is held in the piazza and you can buy delicious cooked chickens perfect for a light lunch! Italians from cities such as Milan and Venice come to Pigna to escape from the hustle and bustle and relax and enjoy the simple life. Pigna has a wealth of art, monuments and history. The church of San Michelle, which dominates the village, is home to the famous 'Polyptych' painted by Giovanni Canevesio in 1500 whilst in the chapel of St Bernado you can admire the frescoes depicting 'The Last Judgement', also by Canavesio. The house is a good base from which to visit the Grand Prix in Monaco. The house is available for long winter lets at a heavily discounted price. Please enquire. The village is steeped in history and is so quaint. Everyone speaks to you and you can go from one cafe to another drinking coffee and chatting to people! The views are spectacular! Buses from Pigna - Ventimiglia then trains.
