Fig Tree Barn is nestled in a small hamlet located in a valley on the edge of Dartmoor, it is the ideal base from which to explore the whole region from moor to sea. The scenery in the area is glorious in all the weather’s moods and offers opportunities for walking, pony trekking, canoeing, swimming, sightseeing or just simply relaxing. Within a 10 minute walk of the barn is a local pub and about a 20 minute walk away is a community run shop and tearoom, perfect for a Devonshire cream tea !. The home is a converted barn completed using traditional materials and in keeping with the appearance of the area. The barn is fully fitted with central heating to ensure that whatever the weather the barn remains warm and cozy. A bedroom with a single bed is located downstairs, along with a bathroom with a large walk-in shower, the kitchen and cozy living room. A staircase leads up to a further two bedrooms, one with a king size bed and the other with twin beds. This floor has a loft like feel with triangular roofs and exposed beams. Guests have full use of the barn and private garden. There is parking available for the property, this is suitable for one car, further cars can be parked in a lay-by down the lane. Within a 15 minute drive is the town of Ashburton, with a restaurant appearing in the good food guide, a couple of cozy tearooms, and two wonderful delis stocking local cheeses and fish sourced from local day boats as well as a fantastic butcher. Closer to home is the local community shop and tearoom open everyday from 11-5. Here you are able to have a light lunch or a Devonshire cream tea or just pickup any forgotten essentials in the shop. This is a 5 minute drive from the barn or about a 20 minute walk along the sleepy country lanes. The house is accessed along leafy country lanes, where you may meet a horse or two or if you are lucky enough may even see the cows from the local farm returning home for miking !. If you are traveling with children, there are plenty of books and toys available for you to enjoy together. If required you can also have use of a travel cot and proper mattress, high chair and baby bath.
