Campagne: Gîte de luxe à la cour du Château, XIVe

Le Logis de Luxe is a group of 3 luxury gîtes set around the stunning formal gardens of a 14thC château near Cognac in SW France. Our objective at Le Logis is relaxation, rest and serenity. Our 2 bedroom, 1 bathroom open-plan gite "Campagne" has a fully equipped kitchen, TV, DVD and CD player, and is all on one level. The gite has a large terrace with outdoor dining and a gas BBQ, and overlooks the formal gardens in the enclosed courtyard. Guests share a 12x5m heated outdoor swimming pool. We do our best to ensure that Le Logis is a tranquil haven of peace, where our guests are disturbed only by birdsong and the buzzing of bees in the lavender. The formal gardens of Le Logis, and the non-child friendly layout of the swimming pool area do not make it a suitable environment for families with young children. Guests are welcome to wander in the paddocks adjacent to the main courtyard, which are left to grow naturally (there are footpaths) in order to encourage insects and other wildlife. Le Logis is our family home; we (or our designated hosts in our absence) are always available should you need help or have any questions. Dompierre sur Charente is a pretty village situated on the banks of the Charente river, has its own boulangerie and two bar/restaurants (seasonal) within walking distance. It is about 15kms from Saintes and Cognac, and 45 minutes from the Atlantic coast. There are many pretty walks in the area, canoeing on the river, and the Flow Velo cycle route is easily accessible. The Flow Velo cycle route of 250km, joining the Atlantic Coast with the Dord passes by Dompierre sur Charente.
