This beautifully presented, 19th century, former workman's cottage with private on site parking is tucked away in the village of Flookburgh, on the fringes of the Lake District. It is the perfect opportunity for the family to explore the Lake District, Morecambe Bay and the coastline that stretches along the Cartmel Peninsula . This is a cosy and inviting space where you can gather around the wood-burner to enjoy the company of your friends and family. The cottage will be for your sole use during your stay, with the owners living nearby should you require any assistance. The kitchen comprises a dining area for family meals and after diner board games with a contemporary décor. A split-level staircase takes you to the family bathroom, which is modern in design and boasts lovely views over the rooftops towards the countryside. Up the second set of steps is the second bedroom with two single beds. The double room at the front of the property is styled with a beautiful king-size bed, bedside tables and lamps, a wardrobe and views across the road to the fields beyond. There is a lovely patio garden at the front of the property with table and chairs bordered by green shrubs and plants. There is private off road parking on the driveway at the front of the property. At the rear is a shared ally with potted plants and storage for bikes, should you wish to bring them along for a cycling trip. The village has plenty of local amenities including a well stocked shop, an artisan bakery, fish and chip shop with chinese food takeaway and a family friendly pub. Once a popular spot for travellers crossing the sands from Lancaster. Ramblers can enjoy walks along the Cumbrian Coastal Way and Coniston's mountain range. Close by is the enchanting village of Cartmel and you also have the towns of Ulveston, Windermere and Ambleside easily reached by car, with plenty to entertain the whole family. Take a boat trip on lake Windermere and take the kids to the 'World of Beatrix Potter' in Bowness. The whole house, front garden and bike shed is available for your sole use during your stay. Unfortunately, there is no wheelchair access. The bedrooms and bathroom are located on the first floor We are usually on hand as we live nearby. We are very happy to talk you through all the local attractions and things to do. Flookburgh is an old fishing village which hosts the annual steam gathering. The house is just 3 minutes walk from Cark-in-Cartmel train station. The village has a convenience store, post office, Fish&Chip shop (incl Chinese takeaway), pub and bakery. Two other pubs are in walking distance. Train links are very good to the next towns of Grange-over-Sands, Ulverston and beyond. There are plenty of beautiful walks straight from our doorstep to Cartmel and the surrounding area. We welcome up to 2 small dogs which must be kept off furniture, beds and bedding at all times. Dogs must NEVER be left unattended in the cottage and noise kept to a minimum. A dog sitting service is available (subject to availability) which can be booked in advance £15 per dog per night.
