This private Adams County, Ohio, vacation cabin has everything you could want for a relaxing retreat, including beds for 9 on 3 levels, 2 sitting areas, a beautiful deck, a dining area, and a kitchen equipped to cook almost anything. Your Home Away from Everything The cabin is built around a massive cedar tree found on the property. The tree stretches to the ridgepole, supporting the second floor loft and the handcrafted cedar stairs. Craftsmanship surrounds you, from the well-equipped custom kitchen to the tree-house bedroom. Whatever the season, you’ll enjoy the view from the deck: crisp winter deer tracks, cheerful spring wild flowers, lush deep green forests, or bright fall colors. On the trails or by the stream, you will enjoy “radio silence” where you can truly disconnect. Hopewell Croft has beds for nine. It is fully connected, with internet and satellite TV. Cell phone service within the cabin benefits from a signal booster. The cabin is smoke free. Cabin sleeps 8 adults. 3 bedrooms, two with queen size beds, one with three twin beds (includes “tree-house” bedroom, accessible by ladder, not suitable for young children) also, pullout sofa double-bed on main level. 2 full bathrooms. Central Air Conditioning/Gas Furnace. Equipped kitchen includes refrigerator with icemaker, gas stove, microwave, dishwasher, coffee maker, waffle iron, electric mixer, pots & pans, cooking utensils. Crib and high chair available, Large electric roaster oven available. Well-behaved dogs OK for a small fee. Labyrinth on site. Steep drive may not be passable in snow or ice . Meditate on the labyrinth; walk the trails; splash in the creek; marvel at the night sky You'll have complete peace and privacy. You'll love staying at the cabin, enjoying the peace and quiet. Maybe you'll find a book in our library, play one of our board games, or work on a puzzle. You may also spend some time in the woods, on the trail, listening to the birds and watching for wildlife. But if you're looking for something else, here are some things to do in the area. For fishing, the best bets are the Ohio River with put-ins at Manchester and Aberbeen. Adams Lake State Park is another option. You can also kayak and fish on Ohio Brush Creek. There is a put-in where the creek crosses 125. You would take out downstream at the Edge of Appalachia Portman Trailhead or even further downstream at Beasley Fork Bridge. You can also Kayak and fish on Eagle Creek, which is only 3.5 miles from the cabin. The Edge of Appalachia has several hiking trails. The best known is Buzzard's Roost. For history sites, visit Ripley to see the Rankin House and the John Parker House, both significant sites on the Underground Railroad. Old Washington, Kentucky, is on Route 62, on the ridge past Maysville. Harriet Beecher Stowe was inspired to write Uncle Tom's Cabin after her visit here. The prehistoric Great Serpent Mound is north about 45 minutes. Native Americans consider this to be a sacred site. Many people enjoy visiting the Amish and shopping at Millers Bakery and Furniture or the Keim Family Market. They are closed on Sundays. West Union has the quaint Olde Wayside Inn and a soda fountain, at Blakes on the square. Good restaurants are in Maysville, Kentucky. Pogue Distillery gives tours and tastings, by advance appointment, and also has a gift shop. Hopewell Croft is in Adams County, southern Ohio: 1 hour east of Cincinnati’s Eastgate Mall 1 ½ hours from the Greater Cincinnati Airport 1 ½ hours from Lexington, Kentucky 2 hours from Dayton, Ohio 2 hours from Columbus, Ohio 2 ½ hours from Charleston, West Virginia 3 hours from Indianapolis, Indiana There is plenty of parking available at the cabin.
