Garnet Mountain Farm, Room #2, 15 min. to Mt Snow

Quiet, "homey" atmosphere, where you will find many country comforts. This is a small working farmstead. Rental includes private bedroom in main house, with comfy double bed, bath (just for guests) and new downstairs "guest parlor", stocked with breakfast goodies. Convenient location near Mt Snow, hiking, quaint villages and services. 4-season activities - ski/snowboard, golf, hike, bike, kayak, antiquing, fine dining, nightlife. Small hobby farm setting, w/friendly goats, chickens and guinea fowl!, along a winding stream, nestled in a wooded valley. Rental space is on 2nd floor of my simple Victorian-era home, but entirely private just for guests, with your own entrance, 24-hr access. There are 2 guest rooms, plus the new downstairs "parlor". Bedroom is small, but bright, clean and cozy, with freshly made (double) bed, soft pillows, bath towels and hi-speed WIFI. Common space (with 2nd airbnb room guests, if booked, otherwise all to yourself) includes bathroom (with amenities) and downstairs parlor. Self-serve breakfast included. Plus our own farm fresh pastured eggs (hardboiled), on request., when available, also for sale, $5./doz. Laundry use available on request. There is also a neat attic/rec room space (w/sleeping mats) available for 3rd person, sleeping, stretching, etc. Rural location requires car for travel to stores, etc. Lovely walks in the neighborhood though. Ample onsite parking area. Outside at front entrance is a small sitting area, charcoal grill, plus rest of the property (3 acres) - including walking path, a cool and refreshing brook, vegetable garden, farm animals - I am happy give a short tour and to answer questions. Many other places to hike and swim in streams within minutes of the house, or enjoy a leisurely stroll or brisk jog down quiet country roads in the neighborhood. I am either on or offsite, depending on my schedule. My caretaker, Michael is here to answer any questions and/or I can be reached by email, here on airbnb or by phone (landline). This part of Southern Vermont is a prime destination for travelers of all kinds, attracted to the quintessential New England scenery, invigorating mountain air, top ski destinations, charming and unique historic towns and so much more. Some favorite places to check out while here: Stratton Mountain - 45 minutes north for top notch skiing. Jamaica State Park 30 minutes to great hiking trails. Fine dining in Wilmington - Anchor Seafood Rest. (URL HIDDEN) Fine Dining in Newfane - Four Columns Inn, The Fat Crow Farm to table, 5 minutes away - Williamsville Eatery, (URL HIDDEN) Pool/drinks/dining - Dover Forge, (URL HIDDEN) Pub and casual fare - Valley View Saloon (URL HIDDEN) Breakfast/diner -Dots of Wilmington Plus a handy 7-11 convenience store, open 24/7, year round (Rt 100, Dover), with wine/beer store attached, ATM, gas station - 10 minutes away. We are located 2.5 hrs. from Boston, 3.5 hrs from NYC. Traveling north on I-91 to either Rt 9, to Rt 100 or Rt 30, to Dover Rd., 30 min. from Brattleboro, VT, 50 min. from Bennington, VT, 1 hr from Keene, NH. Amtrak service from NYC comes right to Brattleboro, daily service. No public transport from there, but taxi service is available. Albany airport or Bradley International (CT) are each 2 hrs hrs away. >Thorough cleaning/sanitizing protocols are followed and sanitizing wipes, lysol spray and soap are on site for guest use, as well. >If traveling in winter snow conditions, always check latest weather reports for safe driving conditions. Though we are on an easily accessible, frequently plowed road and plowed driveway, snow tires are a good idea and/or 4WD never hurts in this area. Avoid the Lower Dover Rd route on GPS (not a good road). >Cell service can be limited. > Perfume and dye-free laundry detergent used. >Year-round, I am busy with different aspects of the farmstead life -gardening, animals, etc. You are welcome to join in and help if so inclined.
