Shirgarton Bothy Kippen Stirling FK8 3DT

This is a traditional Scottish Bothy that dates from early 1700's.It is a self contained "wee house" that has been modernised. 1 double bed 1 sofa bed with shower/wc. No cooking facilities but tea /coffee provided. Breakfast provided by arrangement at a small additional charge. NOT recommended for 4 adults TOO small! Built around 1700 as a Drovers Bothy it has been refurbished and retains the upstairs loft which houses a double bed downstairs we have a double sofa bed. It is the only original Bothy of its type in the village and offers an insight as to how what living was like in the days of Outlander! Although there are a few more home comforts on offer now! This is a "wee" self contained unit so access all areas. Please note it is not a huge area and one of the beds is a sofa bed. We would say it is perfect for 2 people but we have had lots of 3 and 4 guests who have been very happy with the space. If you wish a breakfast this would be served at Lonaig Cottage next door to you. We have a menu here you can complete on your arrival. We live 100 m away on the main road at Thistledown Cottage and our Parents live at Lonaig Cottage next door to you. There is usually somebody around if you need any help. We tour Scotland on our holidays so if you need any help, advice or recommendations just ask. Kippen is a small village just 9 miles from Stirling and 12 miles from Loch Lomond with stunning views of the Trossachs. It is a fantastic location for walkers as well for mountain biking and road cycling. There is quality fishing nearby at the Lake of Menteith where the World Championships were held a few years back. Until the 1960's it was the home of the largest grapevine in the world! Kippen is currently listed in the Sunday Times top 20 villages in the UK to live... so you might want to stay! Kippen is blessed with two stunning award winning pub restaurants (URL HIDDEN) and the (URL HIDDEN) We have a hairdresser, post office / genral store/ butcher and deli/ coffee bar in the village. We also have craft brewery based at the old railway station called the Fallen Brewery. There are public bus services from Glasgow to Stirling and a service from the nearby village of Balfron All towels and bedding provided along with tea and coffee. We also have a small fridge but sadly have NO cooking facilities. Please note this Bothy was built in around 1700 and it has really thick stone walls. It means that there is only very limited WIFI in the house( through mobile phones usually).If it really important that you have Wi-Fi the Bothy is probably not for you. If you need other domestic essentials while you are here such as an iron etc then just ask!
