Our spacious, clean and very private studio apartment is in a peaceful suburban neighborhood with a rural feel. Just a few minutes’ drive from abundant services, shopping, hospitals and freeways in the heart of western Washington near Tacoma, Puyallup, Lakewood and Joint Base Lewis-McChord. The room is well-appointed with a warm feel. Enjoy the bonus features of cooking in the fully equipped kitchen, complimentary in-room laundry and wood burning fireplace in your private outdoor seating area. Business ready and RV/EV friendly with a 30 amp 120 volt electrical hook-up for your RV and 120 volt standard outlet ready for your level one EV charger conveniently located in the guest parking area. Strict maximum occupancy is 2 guests over 12 years of age of which one is at least 21 years of age. No third party bookings are allowed. Unfortunately, no pets are allowed. Located on a historic property, the original home adjacent to the cottage was built in 1927 from salvaged materials hauled with horse and wagon from 20 miles away. It is now in a rare, rural separator zone where surrounding homes are on acreage and uncrowded. Inside, Summit Cottage furnishings include: Two comfy recliners, a queen size bed with gel infused memory foam mattress, two dressers and lamps, a kitchen table with four chairs and a new adjustable height computer desk with comfortable chair. The well equipped kitchen with sink, gas range, dishwasher, microwave, electric coffee maker, toaster, refrigerator, dishes, silverware, cups, glasses, pots and pans and utensils makes preparing meals a breeze. A 40-inch flat screen TV equipped with Comcast Xfinity HD cable TV and a wall-mounted HDMI port for easy use of your personal media device (Roku, Fire Stick, Chromecast etc.). Private Wifi and/or hard wired Ethernet are provided for your entertainment and communications needs. A new deluxe, motorized adjustable height computer workstation and chair are excellent for work from home. The walk-in closet has plenty of room for hanging clothes, storing luggage and also supplied are an iron and ironing board. The bathroom is heated separately and has a double-wide shower with two shower heads, sink, toilet and electric hair dryer. Heating for the cottage is by fan forced electric wall heaters and electric air conditioning is available during the summer season. Convenience and comfort for our guests is our primary concern so we've also added a few extras including a book rack full of local information, Himalayan salt block nightlight, detailed map book of Washington state and a ceiling fan-light. Outside, a hand-built wood burning river rock fireplace in your private, fenced seating area is available for your use and a gas grill or charcoal BBQ are available upon request. Dramatic landscape up-lighting enhances your evening enjoyment. A conveniently located secure, heated, private storage space for infrequently used items is available outside of the cottage. There is Convenient parking for one or two cars adjacent to the right side of the cottage. Private entry through a gate to the back yard entrance. Simple keypad check-in and come and go as you please. Parking area and entry are well illuminated for security and safety. We are available, on site, for any questions, requests or help you may need including trip planning when touring western Washington, favorite restaurants, local fairs and markets, etc. Just text us. Our place is located in a rare, rural separator zoned area close to freeways, services and shopping. Here you will enjoy a peaceful neighborhood with minimal traffic. Located just 15 minutes from Good Samaritan Hospital 25 minutes from Tacoma General or St. Joseph Hospitals and Madigan Army Medical Center. Bus service is located approximately 1.5 miles north of the property. Other things to know: Because this is a semi-rural area, our location is not near any services within a convenient walking distance yet just a few minutes away by vehicle. We have 2 dogs in the fenced back-yard of our separate, adjacent property who may greet you with a bark or two and will quickly settle down. (They think it's their job). They do not have access to your space surrounding the cottage, which has a privacy fence. Again, because we have pets of our own, we require that you or your guests do not bring any pets onto the property. Our pets will be very upset if other animals are present at any time. For long-term guests we have a key secured USPS mailbox at the street which is checked daily. We will sort any mail addressed to you and place it in your mailbox at the back entry to the cottage for your convenience. Freight package deliveries and other deliveries may be left on the left front entry porch of the cottage. Packages left on the cottage porch are the guest’s responsibility and should be retrieved asap.
