Quinta Rio de Oliveira is a green and peaceful oasis in the foothills of the beautiful Serra da Estrela. Studio Oliveira is one of two well-appointed & comfortable holiday apartments; families or larger groups can also rent an adjacent bedroom if required. There's a heated swimming pool exclusively for guests (with sun loungers & pool-side bar) and large children's play-park. The apartment has free wifi, TV, dishwasher, bbq, private sun terrace & laundry room. Dogs are welcome; parking is free. Studio Oliveira is a large, self-contained & fully equipped studio apartment, with everything you need for a perfect holiday. Bright and cool in the summer, warm and cosy in the winter - an amazing place to relax and unwind at any time of the year. Set within 4.5 ha of green meadows and woodland, the Quinta is home to many species of birds and animals - a real paradise for nature-lovers. Find a quiet bench to read in the shade, or lie by the pool listening to the frogs singing and the breeze in the treetops. There is tranquility and stillness here - it's a peaceful, magical environment. Guests have access to all of the 5 ha of grounds, including a wooded hillside, babbling stream, wild flower meadows and a children's play park. Johnny and Tania will be available throughout your stay, usually on site, but if not by phone. Please don't hesitate to ask if there is anything you need. Quinta Rio de Oliveira is situated in the foothills of the beautiful Serra da Estrela, Portugal's principle national park and highest mountains; here you can find real wilderness, with endless hiking and cycling trails, waterfalls to explore, cool mountain lakes to swim in, and even a small ski resort in the winter. Closer to home, the Quinta is just a 5 minute walk from a sleepy little village which boasts a lovely bar and vegan-friendly restaurant. The nearest shops and supermarkets are in Tábua and Oliveira do Hospital, both just a 15 minute drive away, where you will find all the usual amenities. The Quinta is surrounded by green hills and valleys, with dozens of footpaths and trails to explore, and many rivers and river beaches for swimming and kayaking. The beautiful and historic city of Coimbra, a Unesco heritage site, is just an hour away. We are 90 minutes' drive from Porto international airport and just half an hour from the nearest train station. Collection service is available on request - just ask. There are some local busses from the village to the nearest towns, but the service isn't too frequent. Bike hire is available on request. We are a vegan household and vegan guests will be made especially welcome. We share our home with 2 rescue dogs and 5 rescue cats, so please let us know if you have any phobias or allergies - we will do our very best to ensure your stay is as safe and pleasant for you as possible. All surfaces in the apartment will be completely sterilised before your stay, to be as 'Covid-safe' as possible.
