Attractive, spacious, comfortable and fully equipped 4 bedroom, 19th century stone farmhouse comfortably sleeping eight adults. Peacefully situated in a small hamlet with chapel, the house sits privately amongst sunny terraces of olive and fruit trees, surrounded by woodland where all manner of wildlife resides including deer foxes wild boar and porcupine. From the pool decking, terrace and house you will enjoy un-rivalled spectacular views of hilltop villages and the town of Bagni Di Lucca. Downstairs is a pretty kitchen with traditional chestnut cupboards, a wood burning stove and oven, an electric oven with gas hob, sink and dishwasher. A further room off the kitchen includes fridge-freezer, microwave and storage cupboards leading to a further room where is the washing machine , bathroom with shower. There is a large dining room adjoining a sitting room with Wi-Fi and TV receiving both Italian and British programs . There is also a very effective wood pellet stove. Upstairs a spacious landing leads to 3 large bright double bedrooms , one of which can be converted into two single beds, plus a smaller 4th bedroom with two comfortable single beds. Also upstairs is a large family bathroom with large bath with shower. The property and pool are completely private and for your sole use. There is gas fired central heating in every room. You will have sole access to the whole house and the pool is private, for your use only. It will be self check in, but you can call me and/or set me up as a WhattsApp contact using my mobile number Very close by is the pretty local village of Granaiola, which is an exhilarating and beautiful 10 minute walk uphill. Here you are rewarded with stunning views of the village with its traditional productive terraced gardens. Numerous other pretty medieval mountain villages are minutes away, accessible by car or via the many woodland paths linking them all together making it enjoyable and easy to explore. The nearest town is the charming spa town of Bagni Di Lucca, a seven minute drive from the house. This quaint quiet town of splendid villas and churches lies astride the River Lima in the attractive Val di Lima. Here you will find a friendly welcome in an authentic Italian town, numerous excellent bars, cafes and reasonably priced restaurants, a twice weekly market, tourist information centre and large open air swimming pool. Bagni Di Lucca was nicknamed “Land of Princes and Poets” due to its popularity with European nobility . Napoleon Bonaparte's sister Elisa Boneparte Baciocchi was instrumental in the increasing popularity and development of the town as a Spa destination culminating in the opening of the first casino in Europe. Also the poets Byron, Shelley , Robert and Elizabeth Browning, to name a few. They all enjoyed the locality, not least its natural hot spring bathing where you can still enjoy relaxing treatments today at the historic Bagni di Lucca Terme. Other re-invigorating holistic activities include a wide range wellness therapies, dermatological, musculoskeletal and respiratory treatments and courses in meditation, yoga and pilates. From the railway station you can catch a cheap train to Lucca where you can rent bicycles and cycle around the spectacular walls, investigate the wonderful medieval city or enjoy the many festivals including world renowned Lucca Summer Music Festival, and The Comics and Games Festival usually held in October/November . You might decide to take a trip to Florence, Pisa or the pretty Garfagnana Valley and on towards Cinque Terre. The house is perfect for groups or families who wish to relax by the pool, explore the pretty local villages, walk or cycle amongst the woods and mountains, and visit the many local attractions. These would include the un-missable Lucca, Florence, Pisa and the coast around Lerici. Impressive caves are nearby and further afield but within a day-trip is Cinque Terre. There are numerous places to swim in the river and for the more active and adventurous there are a number of leisure activities available such as nature walks, horse riding, mountain biking ( electric assisted available), river canyoning, river rafting, canoeing, rock climbing , night walks, survival adventures, caving and zip wire adventures. Not to forget that Abetone is only 50minutes away with it fabulous skiing from December to April. Bringing your own or hiring a car is recommended. However there are 3 buses a day that go up and down the hill to from the end of the drive to Bagni di Lucca. Once in Bagni di Lucca ( at Ponte a Serraglio ) there is a frequent bus service to Fornoli, where you can catch regular cheap punctual trains. Look at (Website hidden by Airbnb) for a timetable. The train is a very convenient way to travel. to Lucca 30mins , Pisa centre ( 1 hour ) and airport (via Pisamover 1 hour 15mins ), Florence ( 2 and half hours ). Or in the other direction go for a gentle ride up the very pretty Garfagnana valley to Castelnuovo di Garfagnana ( 30mins ), or to Aulla ( 1 hour 30mins ) and from here on to Cinque Terre .
