Welcome to Bracken Cottage, with a private wooded garden and car park just 2 miles from Alston town centre in Cumbria. Located on Alston Moor in the North Pennines, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The cottage has an elevated position with panoramic views of the South Tyne Valley. A haven for wildlife, birds and nature. Relax and unwind with a walk, cycle or visit Alston town. An ideal location for exploring Cumbria, Northumberland and only 22 miles from the Lake District. The Host lives in a cottage at the back of the holiday cottage. The two properties are separate with private boundary fencing and gates. We respect your privacy and will respond to any request for assistance if needed. Our guest have private access to the fenced garden around Bracken cottage and use the large garden and seating area. Located on Alston Moor, surrounded by moorland and working farms with livestock. Approximately 2 miles from Alston town the highest market town in England, with a Market Cross, historic buildings and cobbled areas. Galleries, retail shops, cafe's, restaurant and public houses. At the bottom of the main street is South Tynedale Railway - Heritage Attraction. Alston is location on the Moor so has limited public transport. At the top of Alston town is a free public car-park and playground. Parking the car, bike and/or walking into Alston takes less than 5 minutes. At the bottom of Alston town main street there is a public car-park in the recycling bottle bank area. Here you can park up and walk down to the river.
