Garden Cottage is a stylish holiday cottage for two located in the Scottish Borders. It is situated within the grounds of Wedderburn Castle, just outside the village of Duns which has shops, cafes, pubs and leisure facilities. The historic cottage has recently been renovated in a contemporary style and offers the privacy and quiet of the countryside, along with the convenience of being close to a pretty market town. The comfortable sitting room has a huge stone fireplace with wood-burning stove as its focal point. Entertainment is provided through a large flat-screen television with satellite channels and there is also free Wi-fi. The dining-kitchen is a bright room with French doors offering views across a spacious private lawn and fully-equipped with a wide variety of culinary essentials. The wooden flooring throughout the ground floor of the cottage provides a warm, atmospheric feel, and all floorboards were cut from a single ancient ash tree that grew beside the castle and fell during a storm. The bedroom has a king-size bed and a full height window framing views of Wedderburn Castle and across the countryside. The chic limestone bathroom has a 1.9m bath with shower. Garden Cottage has a spacious private walled garden that allows guests the option of sunbathing, alfresco dining, BBQs and relaxing in the fresh air. It is also ideal for those trying to keep an eye on infants and young toddlers. The cottage has parking at the door. Travel cot, high chair and z-bed available by prior arrangement. The entire cottage is yours throughout your stay. We like to leave our guests to enjoy their holiday in peace. Check-in is any time after 4pm and we leave the key in a safe place for you to pick up at any time that suits your travel plans. We send you extensive information about the local area in advance of your stay and answer any questions in advance. We provide all of our telephone numbers in case of emergency and you may see us and other staff around the castle grounds but we tend not to wish to interrupt your precious relaxation time. The cottage is set in the pretty grounds of Wedderburn Castle a mile and a half from the town of Duns. It combines the peace of the countryside with the convenience of being close to a small town. Duns has a supermarket, coffee shops, pubs, pharmacist, baby shop, baker, delicatessen, butcher and many other small independent shops. A car is strongly recommended - particularly during the dark winter months. There is private parking directly outside the cottage.
