Beautiful well-equiped gite close to amenities

Aou Roques gite is located on the edge of a small village surrounded by farmland and with distant views of the Pyrenees. The small town of Plaisance is just five minutes by car with an two supermarkets, weekly street market and a range of shops, entertainment and amenities. The wine growing regions of Madiran and Saint Mont are a short distance away and the Pyrenees can be reached in just over an hour. The area is great for cycling and walking and renowned for its many festivals in summer. This cottage at the edge of the village and is itself quite private. There is one large bedroom, a dining/living room with log burning stove, TV with UK and French TV, a modern bathroom with shower and well-resourced kitchen. The property is separate from the main house and has a private garden area. Wifi is available. Guests have exclusive use of the gite and the gite garden area and have access to the swimming pool by agreement. We live in the main property (let out during Marciac Jazz Festival) across the courtyard and are always available to provide information on local activities and places to visit as well as buying property in the area. This region is known as the heart of the South West (coeur du sud-oest). It is one of the healthiest and least populated of the whole of France. Ju Belloc where the gite is located is a small village close to Plaisance. Nearby villages worth visiting include Madiran, Prechac and Iztoges. Plaisance is a short drive (or cycle ride) and Marciac with its world renowned jazz festival about 20 minutes away. Within an hour's drive there are a number of beautiful cities such as Pau, Auch and Tarbes, and the coast and the mountains are both easily reached for day trips. For wine and food lovers we are close to the wine villages of Madiran and St Mont, and, slightly further north, the Armagnac area and there are numerous excellent restaurants in the area offering famous Gascon dishes. The region is known for foie gras and duck products but there is a lot of other local produce on display in local markets and villages. There are many festivals throughout the summer covering every sort of musical interest (e.g. Jazz in Marciac, Latin in Vic Fezensac and Country in Mirande), history (d'Artagnan Festival in Lupiac) and gastronomy (St Mont in March, Madiran in August). Information about the many places to visit and activities in the area can be provided by the owners. The River Adour passes nearby and offers 70 kilometres of paths, tracks etc with well marked routes for walkers, horse riders and cyclists (few bits can be accessed by car). We have bikes that can be used for local excursions such as the above, visits to the wine areas of St Mont and Madiran and even to Marciac, if feeling energetic. We can advise on routes avoiding main roads but hills cannot be avoided unless you follow the Adour valley either towards Maubouguet or Aire sur l'Adour! If reaching Ju Belloc from the D935, do not take the SatNav recommended route through Mazeres if you have a large vehicle due to the bridge being very narrow. It is better to cross the Adour at Prechac or Heres. The Pyrenees and their ski resorts are between 75-90 minutes away and the beach is approx 120 minutes . Collection from airports is possible by agreement. We have bikes for use by guests and with which one can easily access the nearby town of Plaisance and other villages such as Madiran or for use along the Sentier de l'Adour path.
