A peaceful room perfect for couples and solo travellers visiting or working London. My place is in South London and close to Sydenham station and London Overground for frequent and fast transport to Central London (about 40 minutes). We are located in Zone 3. We take great care to ensure that our home meets hygiene standards so that guests feel safe. We follow the Airbnb Covid cleaning policy and ensure we socially distance in our interactions with guests. We ask our guests do the same. Your room is located downstairs. Our place is a family home. I work as a teacher locally and have lived in London for over 25 years. We love travelling and meeting people from different cultures and welcome our guests from all over the world! We are an LGBTQ friendly home. We know Central London and many of it's surrounding areas well and we will do our best to help with queries about places to visit and how to get about our great city. Your room is spacious with a double bed, sofa bed and small table and chairs. There is a downstairs toilet and sink for exclusive use by guests. The shower for guests is located upstairs in the bathroom which is shared with our family. We clean our shared areas regularly. Guests can use the kitchen for breakfast, coffee, tea and making snacks. Our garden is there for our guests to enjoy and smoking is permitted in the garden. There is plenty of space to park for free outside our house. In most cases we will be here to meet you. We will be practising social distancing and where necessary, we can organise self check in. Please let us know about your plans for arrival so we can make sure you are settled in. Sydenham was one of the first victorian suburbs of London. It is well connected and surrounded by green space and takes around 40 minutes to get into central London by train and/or overground and tube. The station is approximately 12-15 minutes walk from our house. You can either go directly to London Bridge via the train or take the overground to Canada Water and then change to the Jubilee line to get to central London. Currently there is some reduced facilities but most of bars and restaurants are open. Locally there are lots of places to eat out and socialise in Sydenham. Crystal Palace, East Dulwich and Forest Hill are all worth a visit for pubs, restaurants and bars. We have some lovely parks such as Sydenham Wells, Crystal Palace and Dulwich Park. The Horniman Museum is close by along with Dulwich Woods. We recommend purchasing an Oyster card on arrival. There is a daily cap of £8.70 that covers all transport in London from Zone 1-3. You can also use a contactless credit or debit card to travel. The impact of the pandemic means that masks must be worn on all public transport and some services are less frequent. Sydenham station is a 12 minute walk and trains to London Bridge and Canada Water (London Overground) run frequently. It takes approximately 25 minutes to get into Central London from Sydenham station. There are also trains to Victoria station from Sydenham Hill and Penge East. The bus network is great in South London and you can get anywhere you want - just ask! Visit the tfl (transport for london) website for more details. We are in South London so Gatwick is our nearest airport and can take approximately an hour from Gatwick to our house via public transport. If you are travelling from Heathrow, Stansted or Luton airport we suggest you check journey times which can be much longer and perhaps consider whether it is worth booking here for short stays. We can help with giving directions from airports.
