Little Springfield - coast and country!
Nestling in a quiet rural location Little Springfield is a great place for relaxing and chilling. A luxury self-contained lodge is a super location for short or longer stays for families, walkers, cyclists and surfers and only 20-30 minutes walk (5 minutes drive) to Bude and its fine choice of places to eat and drink and award-winning beaches of Summerleaze and Crooklets. Opposite the lodge there is parking space and a paddock for softball games, picnics and BBQs with views across the valley. A fully appointed luxury self-catering lodge in a beautiful setting down a 'no-through' country lane with far reaching countryside views and close to beaches and Bude town. Opposite the lodge is a field for picnics, barbecues and car-parking. We keep a variety of egg-laying and fancy chickens which provide amusement for the children (and adults)! In the lodge you’ll find brochures to help you decide where to visit as well as a selection of books for adults and children and a wide selection of DVD movies. Please refer to Amenities section for details of what we provide. Strictly no smoking permitted. We take our ecological responsibilities seriously and and ask that you help us by recycling your rubbish and keeping energy consumption down by switching off lights when you’re out and heaters when not needed. Electric/Plug-In hybrid vehicles can be charged for a small additional fee. The lodge is a stand-alone building with access via French doors with key provided. We always greet our guests and provide a quick tour of the facilities! Although completely separate from the main house, we are always available to help when needed. Simply visit us at the main house or phone/text. The lodge is set in a quiet, rural location, in a farming community. A short walk down a quiet country lane will take you to Stratton where you’ll find a well-stocked general store and two family-friendly pubs serving excellent food. Just a little further afield in Bude itself, you will find a superb selection of shops. We are very lucky in Bude to have four supermarkets, as well as a wide range of independent stores providing surfing equipment, gifts, crafts and locally sourced food products. Wroes Department Store is worth popping into, even if it’s just for a coffee or tea stop. They have a panoramic window overlooking Summerleaze Beach. Buses are available in Bude, about 40 minutes walk from the lodge or in Stratton village which is about 15 minutes walk. Taxis are also plentiful and of course lots and lots of great walks! There is also plenty of paid for and free car parking in Bude and Stratton village. Access to the village of Stratton is via a short walk down a quite country lane. The adjoining village of Maramchurch can be reached via a bridleway and takes around 25 minutes. We like to think we are friendly hosts and have good local knowledge. We are part of a rural community set between two farms so there are fields directly adjoining the lodge containing livestock (sheep and their lambs) at most times of the year so no pets please. Strictly no smoking or vaping permitted. We take our ecological responsibilities seriously and and ask that you help us by recycling your rubbish and keeping energy consumption down by switching off lights when you’re out and heaters when not needed. Electric/Plug-In hybrid vehicles can be charged for a small additional fee. If you intend having day-visitors during your stay, please let us know beforehand. We have farm animals surrounding us, so strictly no dogs please.
