Room in a tower near Montepulciano and Cortona

Room Il Professore is one of the 4 rooms of a family run B&B, in an ancient 13th century tower surrounded by olive trees and vineyards, with peaceful garden and plenty of artworks, being home of a sculptor. Located on the border between Tuscany and Umbria, at a few km from Cortona, Montepulciano and lake Trasimeno, it is easily connected to the best itineraries of this wonderful area, including Valdorcia and Siena Arezzo and Perugia. Room bright and spacious, bathroom with no window. Room Il Professore is a spacious double bedroom, with en-suite bathroom with shower (please note the bathroom has no window). The room is first floor, with two windows facing the front garden and opens on a sitting room reserved for the guests, with art books and literature about the territory. The oldest part of the house is from the Middle Age and it is known that Santa Margherita, the patron saint of Cortona, lived here in the XIII century. The little chapel is still a holy place. The owner is a sculptor and you can see his artwork everywhere in the house. The property is surrounded by the most enchanting Tuscan landscape, with olive groves and vineyards, just a short drive from the beautiful towns of Cortona, Montepulciano and lake Trasimeno. A small village is just one km away, with a convenience store and a bar. The family will be pleased to show you the amazing view from the tower and will help you to book the typical trattoria or find the small local producer where to buy Vino Nobile di Montepulciano or the best pecorino cheese. Italian breakfast is included in the room rate. Cooking lesson followed by dinner can be booked in a nearby agriturismo The B&B is located in the family house, with a private entrance and separate from the owners' apartment. The 4 rooms for the guests, all with en suite bathrooms, are on the first floor and share a sitting room with art books and literature about the territory. Free wifi. On the ground floor the breakfast room (for the Italian breakfast included in the room rate) with coffee and tea facilities, a large hall with a piano, and a peaceful garden for the guests to sit and relax, with tables and chairs to have breakfast outside, pool. A painting corner is available for the guests. The family lives in the house and is available to give you information about the area, suggesting the best itineraries and excursions, and ready to help you booking restaurants, wine tastings or any other activities. Massimo is a sculptor and you can see him working in his workshop and possibly also carve a piece of olive wood together! Italian breakfast is included in the room rate. Informal cooking lesson followed by dinner can be booked in a nearby farm. This is a very strategic location, exactly halfway between Cortona and Montepulciano, at a short drive from lake Trasimeno. Very easy to reach (18 km from A1 Rome-Florence motorway, Valdichiana exit) can be a perfect starting point for daily excursions as well as a relaxing stop when driving between Rome and Florence. At one km a small village with a convenience store, at 2 km a good trattoria and an agriturismo for farm dinners. A restaurant is the opposite property. A car is needed if you want to eplore the area as there is no public transport. You can rent a bicycle or a vintage Vespa for daily excursions. Please ask if you want us to arrange for it. We can also arrange pick up from Terontola train station. No air conditioning in the rooms, only fans. Open from April 1 till October 31 There are cats and other domestic pets around Free wifi . We are a licenced B&B and need to register our guests, so please provide your passport or id at check in. One euro tourist tax per person per day to be paid cash on departure.
