Bridge House is a landmark building in Trowbridge, built in 1929 as the Wiltshire Working Men's Conservative Benefit Society. The original Caretaker's Quarters have recently been refurbished and stylishly furnished, situated above Drawing Projects UK. The top floor guest accommodation provides a spacious retreat, with views across the county town of Wiltshire. Within a few minutes walk of the train station, it is an excellent base from which to explore Wiltshire, Somerset, and the City of Bath. Situated above Drawing Projects UK, a unique cultural destination that houses an art gallery, creative workspaces and a cafe, the guest accommodation is in the Caretaker's Quarters and comprises: a large double bedroom with king-size bed, bureau, chairs, cabinet with drawers; a sitting room, with Hans Wegner sofa bed, writing desk and chairs; a kitchen-dining room with fitted kitchen, fridge, dining table, chairs and stools; a shower-room with large sink; a separate toilet with hand-basin; and a vestibule with credenza and informal seating. Artworks and mid-century furniture are installed throughout. Access to the top floor guest accommodation is by staircase from the side entrance. Breakfast, lunch, cakes and coffee are available from Miranda’s Coffee Shop at Drawing Projects UK from Monday to Saturday from 8am to 2pm. Access to the top floor guest accommodation is by staircase from the side entrance to the building. The guest accommodation on the second floor is for sole use of our guests. Gary and I look forward to welcoming you and to answering any queries during your stay. We ask guests to respect our privacy, and also that of the workspace occupants of Drawing Projects UK at Bridge House. Bridge House also houses Drawing Projects UK, an internationally recognised centre for drawing and contemporary art that presents exhibitions and events, with artists' studios, workspaces, a project space, meeting rooms, and a cafe on site, Miranda's Coffee Shop. Miranda's is open from 8am to 2pm Monday-Saturday, and serves breakfast, lunch, and delicious cakes, with all food prepared on site by local chef Miranda Clark (vegan friendly and gluten free options available). The Rose and Crown pub and Davana Thai restaurant are nearby, and the town centre is within a five minute walk with banks, shops, supermarkets etc. There are numerous local landmarks in Trowbridge itself, which has many important listed buildings and beautiful walks in the Biss Meadows Country Park. As well being 20 minutes from the centre of the City of Bath, we are a short drive from Longleat, Stourhead, Stonehenge, and the beautiful market towns and cultural centres of Bradford on Avon, Frome, Bruton and Salisbury. Bridge House is easily accessible by public transport, and trains from Trowbridge Station go regularly to Bath, Bristol, Bruton, Cardiff, Frome, Gloucester, London, Salisbury, Southampton, Westbury and Weymouth. Exploring the local region by car is easy, and there is a cycle route to Bath and Bristol along the Kennet and Avon Canal.
