Beautiful House, Gite, Private Pool & Garden
This beautifully renovated stone house is a touch of luxury, filled with both original charm and contemporary style. Belle Vue boasts a large private heated pool, extensive gardens in an idyllic location surrounded by fields whilst only 10 minutes from the local amenities in the pretty village of Chef Boutonne. With 6 bedrooms to sleep 12 people. The house and gite are a fabulous setting for families and friends to holiday together. Available for 7 or 14 night stays (Saturday changeover). At Belle Vue children and adults have plenty of space to enjoy outdoors in the large garden with its fruit trees, (which guests are welcome to pick when in season) wild flowers and views over open fields. Adults will unwind into relaxation mode as soon as they arrive, with children captivated by exploring the safe grounds and garden games. At the side of the house is the secure private pool area, only accessible through lockable gates. The large 11 x 6m heated swimming pool is large enough for adults to swim in and children to play. The pool is heated to 27C creating a fantastic environment for all the family to enjoy. Surrounding the pool are plenty of sun loungers to relax on and an indoor pool shower and toilet for added convenience. We provide a welcome basket containing fresh milk, a fresh tart, bread, jam wine and beer to help you settle in when you arrive. THE HOUSE KITCHEN & DINING On the ground floor the property has a fully equipped kitchen containing a dishwasher, washing machine, fridge, microwave, kettle and toaster. There is a wide range of cooking equipment and plenty of crockery and cutlery including plastic crockery for and cutlery for children. The kitchen opens into the spacious dining room containing a table to seat 8. (2 x IKEA high chairs provided) French doors open out into the courtyard and to further outdoor seating. LOUNGE Comfy sofas and chairs surround an open fire place (logs provided in winter). The lounge has a TV and DVD player, numerous board games and DVDs. BEDROOMS There are four bedrooms which have been thoughtfully decorated and furnished to delight every guest. One bedroom is downstairs containing a king size bed, beautiful exposed stone work, wooden floors and windows looking out to the courtyard. The remainder of the bedrooms are upstairs. One bedroom has its own private staircase, it contains a double bed and has double aspect views overlooking the courtyard and and a Juliet balcony overlooking the pool. The final two bedrooms share a staircase and both contain single beds. The first is our children’s room and is open to the landing, with a large selection of toys and books filling one of the wardrobes as well as under the bed storage boxes full of toys. The second room is accessed past the bathroom and contains two single beds as well as a beautiful fire place. In addition there are two wooden cots available for guests to use. BATHROOMS The property has two shower rooms: one downstairs and one upstairs (on the same side as the two twin bedrooms). There is also an additional toilet and shower in an separate outhouse for the pool. GITE The entrance to the two bedroom gite is located off the courtyard about 15m from the main house. The gite offers another two bedrooms, a bathroom, a living area and a basic kitchen diner. You enter the gite via french doors into the vaulted living area with its beautiful stone floors and original features. Above the living area is the mezzanine bedroom which can be arranged as twin beds or a king as required. From the living area you enter into the spacious kitchen diner. The kitchen has a hob, fridge, microwave, kettle and toaster. There is a extensive range of cooking equipment and plenty of crockery and cutlery including plastic crockery and cutlery for children. The kitchen diner contains a beautiful benched dinning table to seat 6. The staircase to upstairs is situated in the corner of kitchen diner. Upstairs there is a spacious shower room with its new shower, along with the second bedroom containing two large single beds. Both the shower room and upstairs bedroom have views onto the beautiful courtyard. LOCATION Belle Vue is located in the pretty hamlet of Aubigné with its church, small park and historic town hall. Aubigné is a quiet and tranquil setting in which to unwind. NEARBY TOWNS Both the nearby towns of Chef Boutonne and Brioux Sur Boutonne, both approximately 10 minutes drive, offer supermarkets, shops, banks, bakeries and a small selection of restaurants. Our children particularly like the pizza restaurant in Chef. There are lots of activities and attractions to keep both parents and children entertained such as: LAKES AND RIVERS: Plan d’eau dès Gours (15 mins) Lovely swimming area or just relax in the sun. There is a sandy area with a play park to keep the little ones entertained, toilets and a snack bar just across the road. Plan d'eau Saint-Macoux (35mins) An inland lake suitable to swim/paddle in. There are lots of picnic benches and shade is available under the trees. Part of the lake is cordoned off for swimming and paddling in. There is a water slide that is in often in operation in an afternoon during July - September. There is also a children's play park, toilets and an onsite restaurant (Le Marais) that serves lunch and snacks (closed on Mondays). Rejallent - Ruffec (40 mins) A picturesque riverside location with a thriving onsite restaurant (Le Rejallant). Plenty of shade, picnic benches and a play park. There are lots of places to enter the river depending on whether you would like to paddle or swim. There is a supervised area that is roped off, ideal for little ones to paddle. For older children, lots of people tend bring inflatables or you can hire kayaks and pedelos. We have always found the kayak staff great (most speak English and some are English). We have often taken a picnic which you can pack into a dry box on the kayak and then enjoy at a picnic spot along the route. Once you have finished your chosen route you can simply ring the kayak company and they will come a collect you and your kayaks and drive you back to your starting point. Marais Poitevin (60 mins) The region is extensively crossed by canals and rivers and in many parts is best explored by boat, either as a guided tour or boat hire. The area is known as Venise Verte (Green Venice) due to the lime green floating duck weed that covers the interconnecting canals. The region is known for its wide range of wildlife. On our visits we have been lucky enough to spot otters and kingfishers. Other popular activities in Marais Poitevin include cycling, fishing and you can even explore the area by donkey. ANIMALS: Zoodysee (25 mins) An animal park showcasing European wildlife. A great place to take the kids , lots of different animals to see and get up close to them. Valley des Singes (50 mins) A lovely place to get up close to a variety of monkeys. A great hit with children and adults alike. Donkey Sanctuary (20 mins) One of the main breeding centres for the hairy Poitou donkey. The donkeys can be seen closely and there is a Visitor Centre with tours on offer in English and French. Aquarium de La Rochelle (1hr 15mins) The aquarium is regarded as one of the best private aquariums in Europe. The aquarium is open all year round and a great option if the weather is bad. CULTURAL Château de Jarzay (10 mins) Located in Chef Boutonne and is currently under restoration but the lake and grounds surrounding the château are very pleasant to walk around or to picnic in. Saint-Hilaire church – Melle (25 mins) The beautiful church of Saint-Hilaire was listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The church has an ‘ecclesiastical juke-box’ which plays hymns and chants. Silver Mines – Melle (25 mins) Melle is home to the oldest silver mine in Europe that is still open to the public. The mine itself is some 20km long and visitors can explore 350m of it with guided tours each day. WALKS Arboretum, Chemin de la Découverte – Melle (25 mins) The Arboretum is spread out over Melle covering 6km. This walk passes more than , (Phone number hidden by Airbnb) species of trees and shrubs and a collection of over 100 roses. THEMEPARKS Futuroscope (75 mins) Parc du Futuroscope is a French theme park based upon multimedia, cinematographic and audio-visual techniques. It has several 3D cinemas and a few 4D cinemas along with other attractions and shows. COAST There are numerous beautiful sandy beaches along the west coast circa 75 to 90 mins away. By Ferry: St Malo (3hr 50), Caen (4hr 20) and Le Harve (4hr 50) are the closest ports to the UK. By Air: La Rochelle (1hr 15), Poitiers (1hr 5), Bordeaux (1hr 50), Nantes (2hrs) and Limoges (1hr 50).
