River Meadow Getaway in Sheboygan Falls
Welcome! Whether for work, pleasure, or something in between, please come and enjoy our country setting with city convenience. You can relax at a campfire and take in the view, or venture into the river meadow beyond our back yard to explore or kayak the gentle rapids. You can also walk or bike downtown for shopping and dining. Excellent golf, spas, arts, and racing are within 15 minutes. Both at home and around town, we think you'll love your stay. A bright, cheerful kitchen, large deck, and spacious yard overlook the Sheboygan River. Take the outside in as you experience the house’s open, airy feel. Cozy up by the fireplace, play the grand piano, or head to the walk-out rec room for games like ping-pong, air hockey, Xbox Kinect, and mini-foosball. Use the office if you need to work. The granite kitchen countertops and all-Kohler fixtures, including the whirlpool tub under the master bathroom skylight, complement the natural beauty of the area. Downtown dining and shopping are a 5-minute bike ride away, as are tennis, basketball, fishing, and a playground. If you’d like to bike further, the Old Plank Road Trail takes you to Lake Michigan and the Kettle Moraine. The downstairs rec room has a daybed with a pop-up trundle. Use them as 1 or 2 twin beds or 1 king. You'll have the whole house and yard to enjoy to yourselves. The meadow beyond is a public space, but aside from the occasional kayaker on the river, you're unlikely to encounter anyone. We'll plan to meet you when you arrive to show you around and help you feel comfortable. Once you're settled in, we'll be off to a destination of our own while you enjoy yours. We live on a quiet street with friendly neighbors alongside and no houses behind us, only the Sheboygan River, a meadow, and thousands of wildflowers. The shops and restaurants of historic Sheboygan Falls are just a mile away. Adjacent are the Settlers Park waterfall and River Park, with tennis, basketball, fishing, and a playground. For a longer trek, bike the Old Plank Road Trail to Lake Michigan or the Kettle Moraine. Much more is an easy drive away: - Whistling Straits Golf Course, host of the 2021 Ryder Cup: 18 min - Kohler: 7-9 min to the Water Spa, Design Center, factory tours, and Blackwolf Run Golf Course - Downtown Sheboygan: 12-14 min to Lake Michigan, the farmers market, John Michael Kohler Art Center, and Weill Center for the Performing Arts - Road America: 14 min - Breaker Bay Indoor Waterpark: 16 min - Kohler-Andrae State Park: 18 min - Elkhart Lake: 18 min to the beach for swimming - Kettle Moraine State Forest: 22 min to Parnell Tower From much of the area, you can see the 400-foot tall Acuity flagpole, the world's tallest symbol of freedom. Or stand right next to it and look straight up at a structure taller than the Statue of Liberty. Car: You can park in the attached garage or driveway. Driving is easy here; there's no rush hour. Bike: You can bike to downtown, Lake Michigan, and the Kettle Moraine, all via trails and low-speed roads. We have a bicycle available for you to borrow. Additional bikes may be available; please ask if interested. Bus: A bus stop is 1 mile away. Boat: The Sheboygan River is navigable by kayak much of the year. We have 2 single-seat kayaks with 2 adult life jackets and 4 life jackets for youth to choose from. The rental fee is $20 for each kayak for the duration of your stay. The kayaks are stored near the house, which is about 300 feet from the river. For a trip under one hour, you can start from the house and kayak downstream to River Park or start at the Old Plank Road Trailhead and paddle down to the house. Or take a 4-hour voyage all the way to Lake Michigan. You’ll need a vehicle that can transport the kayaks.
