Barend Holiday Cottage is our only homely holiday cottage on-site where you can enjoy Galloway's famous dark skies and abundant wildlife from the comfort of your own balcony, whilst also being located close to the picturesque beach at Sandyhills on the Solway Coast in Dumfries and Galloway. All of our Barend Holiday Lodges guests can enjoy our indoor heated swimming pool and sauna, as well as a free 9-hole round of golf at our great local par 3 Craigieknowes golf course. Close to Reception, the Swimming Pool and The Beagle, this single storey holiday cottage is the only one of its kind at Barend. Perfect for a romantic retreat, Barend Holiday Cottage has a double bedroom, a lounge and separate kitchen with dining area. There are two bathrooms, one with a walk-in shower and one with a bath, and an external veranda that gives an incredible panoramic view of the Solway Coast and across to the Lake District. Barend Holiday Cottage in more detail… Lounge The spacious living area has comfortable seating and a television with Freeview TV and DVD player, if you’re feeling adventurous you can also have a go on the Wii games console or piano. There are French windows giving access to the outside veranda with outdoor seating and stunning views towards the Solway Coast. Kitchen & Dining Area This newly fitted modern kitchen is well equipped with induction hob and oven, large fridge-freezer, dishwasher, microwave, kettle and toaster. For those on chef duty, there is plenty of counter space – including the spacious kitchen island. The dining area also comes complete with an additional television, so no need to worry about missing your favourite shows! A full range of cooking utensils, crockery, glassware and cutlery is provided and for special occasions Denby crockery and glassware is available to borrow from Reception. Should you need it there is a laundrette on site. Bedroom Leading off from the hallway is one double bedroom with ample storage. Bathroom This property has two bathrooms each with toilet and wash basin; one has a walk-in shower, the other is newly renovated with a luxurious freestanding bath and modern decor. Outside The large veranda, accessed via the living room, offers outdoor seating with stunning views over the Solway Coast and the hills of the Lake District in the distance. A beautiful place to sit out at any time of day. There is level entry to the cottage. Our beautiful cottage is privately owned and is finished to a high quality and unique in style. It is set in stunning surroundings making for a wonderful relaxing or active holiday. The beach is a 5-10 minute walk away. The Solway Coast is a beautiful coastline, with quaint villages, quiet beaches, and excellent opportunities for cycling, walking and golf. There are numerous museums and activities for children within a short drive. Barend Holiday Lodges are around 500m away from the nearest bus stop (the 372 runs from Dumfries to Dalbeattie a few times a day). The nearest train station is in Dumfries. Barend Holiday Cottage has its own parking space 5 metres from the main entrance.
