Nilgiri Cottage. Comfortable, clean and quiet.
Nilgiri Cottage is one of two cottages overlooking beautiful, farmland. Each cottage is self contained. They are 12 kilometres from the centre of Bathurst. Nilgiri Cottage has many of its original features, including high ceilings, pressed tin walls and simple farmhouse kitchen. A reverse cycle A/C is installed and there is a glass fronted wood fire. (Bring your own wood.) Guests have use of the garden/yard immediately surrounding their cottage. Check in 3pm. Check out 11am. Guests have access to the garden and yard immediately surrounding their cottage plus the mown walk to the creek. Guests do not have access to the entire farm. Your accommodation is quiet and peaceful very much a country setting. The cottage has many original features. It is comfortably set up with reverse cycle air conditioning as well as a wood fire, (Bring your own wood.) Plenty of hot water, a bath tub and separate shower, separate toilet. Basic farm kitchen, fresh linen and towels. Very comfy beds. Spacious, interesting, clean and cared for. Ten kilometres from the centre of Bathurst and 15kms to Mount Panorama. Nilgiri Cottage has a washing machine and drying rack. There is a small, beautiful tree lined creek 600 metres walk away down the paddock to the rear. There is a mowed lane for access along the fence. It’s full of creek life and birds and often the kangaroo family will be down there grazing especially at sunset. There is room on the property to park your caravan, trailer or horse float while you are staying at the cottage. We are ten minutes drive to supermarkets etc. Our family live in the main homestead on Restdown. We respect your privacy at all times. Restdown is a working hay, lucerne and millet farm surrounded by other farms. We are rehabilitating the lovely creek with lots of native tree and shrub planting. There’s beautiful bird life, a resident kangaroo family and gorgeous sunsets. Nearby Championship golf courses, Olympic standard cycling facilities, University, historic architecture, famous Somerville Fossil collection, Motor Racing Museum and Mount Panorama Race Track. Bring a bike for a flat 30 minute ride to town. From Sydney the train takes 3 hours. Charles Sturt University, Mount Panorama (Wahluu) and Peace Park on the Macquarie River (Wambool) are all less than 15mins away by car. Our very friendly Labrador will most likely pay you a visit some time during your stay! Please don’t feed him but he’d love a pat. The Bathurst Regional Tourism Office is a good contact. Children need supervision due to waterholes and creeks. (Absolutely not a party house, even on New Years Eve)
