Galissas is one of the most popular beach resorts on the island of Syros, located approximately 5 km from Hermoupolis. It is actually a small bay; the waters are safe, therefore ideal for families with young kids. The beach has been awarded the EU Blue Flag award, which assures the cleanness of its waters. Windsurfing is a very popular activity on this resort and there are also chances to practice other water sports, horse riding, hiking, cycling, yoga and other activities. Syros is one of the islands that have very good transport network for the movements of visitors to the island. As it is a small island and the road network covers a large part of it, the means of transport used on the island have this form. KTEL buses connect the capital Ermoupolis with most of the villages and beaches of the island, facilitating transportation to the most popular destinations. You will find the main bus station of the KTEL in the port and there you will choose your destination. The buses are frequent, they multiply in the summer and even cover the whole 24 hours for some time. Taxis are a very good solution for transportation, so that the visitor can get to know the island of Syros. As the road network of the island is very good, the access from Ermoupolis, but also all the other movements can be done easily, quickly and comfortably, if the visitor chooses to use a taxi. As Syros is a relatively small island, the distances almost never exceed 12 kilometers. Thus, after the recent changes that took place in the operation of taxis in Syros, now the transportation by taxi is also economical.
