Large Lux House by Old Manor near Bath
Willoughby Cottage is a beautifully refurbished cosy four bedroom cottage beside a Grade I listed medieval manor house. It is a family friendly home with incredible countryside views, a brand new kitchen and three beautiful new bathrooms. This is just one of three stunning, newly renovated properties, which are on the same site. We have more than eighty reviews across our three properties, which we encourage you to read. This cottage is at the end of an extensive renovation which means it has a delightfully fresh, clean new feel to it. It is extremely spacious, with beautiful south facing views over rolling countryside. It has a large brand new L-shaped kitchen with electric range cooker, with an open plan dining area (seating around large oak table for 12+), and a cosy collection of seating at the far end of the room. There are three ground floor bedrooms, one of which has been designed for wheelchair accessibility, with its own en suite wetroom. One of the ground floor bedrooms is intended as a family room with a kingsize bed, a travel cot and bunk beds that are suitable for adults or children l. The final ground floor bedroom has views of our Grade I listed restoration project, a kingsize bed, an armchair bed (like a sofa bed but single!) and room for a travel cot. On the first floor is a large, stunning bedroom with incredible countryside views, with a lavish en suite bathroom (see photographs), a kingsize bed, an armchair bed and room for a travel cot. We offer two travel cots and are happy to put them wherever you want. We do strongly prefer you to provide your own bedding for the travel cots but if this is inconvenient for whatever reason we do have a small supply here. We extend a warm welcome to all our guests. For large family groups the cottage is a great base for a cosy get together. We host our own family get togethers here, with hordes of young cousins enjoying the large amount of space available. Longleat safari park and Southwick Country Park (with petting zoo) make great days out. Willoughby Cottage is also ideal for groups of adults who would enjoy lovely country walks (we can tell you some of our favourites) as well as the nearby cultural sites such as Avebury, Stonehenge, Bath, Glastonbury, etc. You will have access to the cottage, a large shared field (with beautiful views) perfect for picnics and play, plus parking for four/ five cars. We'll be around if you need anything while you're here, all you have to do is ask! A welcome basket of food is provided, for example bread, butter, milk and home made jam. There is also tea, coffee, sugar, olive oil, salt and pepper and kitchen roll provided in our well stocked kitchen. I leave some toilet paper, hand soap, washing up liquid and dishwasher tablets in each kitchen although I do expect you to supplement this is it runs out during your stay (unlikely as I try always to provide plenty of these things!) Our buildings have historic links to the courts of Henry VII and Henry VIII. Come along and we'll be happy to explain the history and give you a tour of the listed buildings which are at present scaffolded as part of an ongoing restoration project in conjunction with Historic England (formerly English Heritage). Restoration is in progress but is not intrusive in nature. Having a car while you're here is ideal as that makes trips to Bath, Longleat, Stonehenge etc easy. You could, however, get a taxi here from either Trowbridge or Westbury stations. This is very much a farm/countryside setting so we suggest you come prepared with wellington boots and an appetite for occasional sightings of pheasants, hares, and occasionally even a deer or two in the field.
