Refurbished Large Room/ En Suite in New Forest
Newly refurbished room with fabulous forest views. Cornerstones is a three storey period property in Lyndhurst, the 'capital' of the New Forest. A 7 minute walk from village centre. Room has a small en-suite bathroom with shower. There is a sloping ceiling over toilet area so may not be suitable for tall people. Free parking near the house. Road opposite can be busy at peak times but windows fully double glazed shutting out potential traffic noise. Fan provided during summer months. Cornerstones is on the edge of Lyndhurst village centre. The best pub in the village, a 17th century Inn is almost within view (as is the police station!). You can also walk straight into the forest from our house so everything is on your doorstep! Although no access to the kitchen or other parts of the house, there is a table and chairs in the bay window of your room which overlooks the forest. There are tea and coffee making facilities plus a selection of cereals, fruit and biscuits for your breakfast. We used to supply bottled water but due to environmental concerns (regards plastic) we no longer do this but keep a jug of water in the fridge plus milk which is replenished daily. Stairs to the room are directly by the front door making entering and leaving quite discreet. Carol is the person who will answer your emails and answer any questions but she no longer lives at Cornerstones. Her son Alex and daughter-in-law Nadear (together with their 7 yr old son Joshua) live at the property and are the hosts. They also have a little dog called Delphi - she is a lively Cockapoo and although very friendly may bark when you arrive! Lyndhurst is at the heart of the New Forest, now designated a National Park, and the perfect base for a holiday in the South. The village itself is very lively, with all amenities you need, including post office, banks and 2 small supermarkets, as well as a variety of pubs and restaurants. Situated in the centre of the New Forest we are also only a 25 minute drive to the beach. The historic towns of Winchester and Salisbury are 20 miles away and it's only a 20 minute drive to Southampton or 30 minutes to Bournemouth. The best way to explore the Forest is of course on foot or bicycle (which can be hired locally) Lyndhurst is also on the main bus route from Southampton - Lymington - Bournemouth, and a short bus ride from our main line rail link to London Waterloo at Brockenhurst. You can also catch a ferry to the Isle of Wight (or France) from Southampton or Lymington. Southampton and Bournemouth airports also not far. The family has lived in Cornerstones for 58 years and were doing Bed and Breakfast long before Airbnb came into existence! For this reason they are well-placed to help smooth your trip along with information on the area both currently, and historically! The family pet is a young dog - a Cockapoo. She has a lovely nature but can be quite excitable and may bark on your arrival. Children aged 2 or under are welcome if guests bring their own travel cot. As described the en-suite does not have a bath - just a shower. Guests can use separate bathroom with bath near their room if required.
