English garden apartment in historic Wilmette home with private entrance, sauna, washer/dryer, kitchenette, dining area, recreation room with pool table, vintage pinball machine and wood burning fireplace with gas igniter. Two queen beds, 1 full size sleeper sofa and a single mattresses available for large families. Ideal access to Northwestern University for all events. Free WIFI and internet enabled flat screen TV. The garden apartment is newly painted, has a new floor and is ethnically inspired by Helen's South African heritage. It comes fully equipped with coffee maker, toaster oven, tea kettle, stovetop, refrigerator, microwave and dishwasher drawer in the kitchenette, and all linens and towels. Anything else you may need can be borrowed from our kitchen. Guests will have full access to the entire basement of the house. Inside the garden apartment, there is a recreation room with pool table, fireplace and flat screen TV. There is a sleeper sofa should you want to travel with your family, and we can provide additional mattresses as needed. You are also welcome to enjoy your morning coffee or sun downer on our front porch, one of the most spectacular porches in Wilmette. Feel free to use our grill if you wish. Access to WiFi is included. One of us will be home or a phone call away to offer recommendations and information to help you during your visit to Chicago. Our house is two short blocks away from the Northwestern football stadium, so is an ideal place to stay if you are planning on attending a game. It has easy train access to all locations around the city. Wilmette is an old Chicago suburb with brick roads, old trees and squirrels abound. You will wake up to the sound of the birds outside your window. It is safe, tranquil and close to the beach and the Bahai temple. There are two grocery stores within easy walking distance as well. There is ample street parking in front of the house. We are also a short walk from the Linden Purple line train stop and the Central St in Evanston METRA stop. The house is within walking distance to the Northwestern football stadium. For families moving new students into Northwestern, it is just a short drive away. It is also a short walk to the Linden Purple Line train station and the Central Street, Evanston METRA station. We do have two small dogs. They do not have access to the garden apartment. If you would like to bring a pet, there is an additional $150 per pet fee payable upon arrival. Please let us know before you book if you are hoping to bring a pet. No cats please. There is a small pond in the garden that is filled in the summer. Guests with small children should never lose sight of them if they are out exploring the garden. For larger groups that will be using both queen size beds, one of the beds is adjacent to the furnace room, which can be a little noisy. If you are sensitive to noise, we recommend bringing ear plugs :) The master bedroom is not impacted by this noise. Our home is in a beautiful, lush garden, which is home to many little creatures, including some that may wander in for a visit. You may encounter an ant, small, harmless spiders or a ladybug.
