Vumba’s estate has a unique set of conditions which offer our guests the quiet enjoyment of a true rural experience. The renovation of the old winery gave birth to The Alembic, a snug little cottage with two rooms, living-room (with sofa bed) and kitchen. All of our houses have fully equipped kitchens where you can cook your meals, including breakfast, and there are two small supermarkets in the village where you will find most of the basic ingredients. Also in the village and 5 minutes wa... Vumba's property is divided into 3 cozy guesthouses (The Alambique,The House of the Lizard, The Owl's Nest) and 2 stylish suites (The Bue Maria and The Gorongoza). All guesthouses have access to a large swimming pool surrounded by a lush garden. The bathing season opens on May 15th and closes on September 30th. The estate has several roads and trails as well as five idyllic ponds. Isolated from the outside world, here you will find the ideal combination of natural resources to let you enjoy nature and to experience a truly rural lifestyle. Vumba is a small, family owned company, engaged in maintaining traditions and providing a highly professional and personalized service. We produce the organic cheese "Quinta do Carapinhal" following ancient traditions and provide quality accomodation in a rural environment. Vumba’s logo is a leaf of an oak, a deciduous tree with a long gestation period, that always did well in this region. The oak symbolizes our respect for tradition and continuity as well as renewal. In fact, Vumba is highly influenced by our grandparents’ memory, by their love for this land and by all the great things they’ve done. We make our best to respect and honor this memory in everything we do. Following the indications of the DGS, Vumba made some changes to its common spaces; - The Sala da Adega of our Agroturism is a common area including a living room (with TV) and kitchen; taking into account the aforementioned recommendations, the kitchen will be used exclusively by guests of Suite Gorongosa, maintaining the room as a common space for all guests (maximum of 5 persons). This room is divided from the kitchen through a folding screen. - Our swimming pool, located in the woods next to the houses, with plenty of space around it, is a common area and has areas defined for guests according to the DGS spacing rules. At Vumba we provide self-catering vacation homes. Nevertheless we live at the farm most of the time and are happy to give you assistance. During your stay we are available for any questions, recommendations or needs, but otherwise we will leave you to enjoy your country vacation privately. Vumba is a 140 hectare property which occupies a beautiful valley of green pastures and charming groves. The beauty of the landscape is emphasized by the imposing mountains surrounding the region. On the horizon you can see, in a full, 360º uninterrupted sweep, the peaks of the Estrela Mountains (to the east), the Açor and Lousã Mountains (to the south), the Buçaco Mountains (to the west) and the Caramulo Mountains (to the north). Vumba's Agrotourism are of limited accessibility and, are therefore, not accessible to wheelchairs.
