Manuel Gondim Suite Torre de Maneys
Torre de Maneys is two buildings linked by an enclosed bridge across the street. The main house in stone, dating from the XVI century, is believed to have been a former storage tower of the Castle of Óbidos. Located on the tower side, consists of the old kitchen and a bedroom and bathroom. The kitchen has blue and white tiles, that were recoverd from the demolition of an old farmhouse. There is a wood stove under the old chimney, a sink, a so (Hidden by Airbnb) fa-bed, and table. The bed (Hidden by Airbnb) room has high windows, and an elevated reading platform with views of the town and countryside. A ladder enables you to climb and exit through the skylight to the terrace above. 32” TV, WI FI, central heating and cooling, a double bed and a spare sofa bed in the living. Guests have access to the whole house. Breakfast is served in the dining room next to the kitchen or, if the weather allows it, on the terrace. The terrace overlooks the town and the fields beyond. The pergola provides shade, and a place to sit and read or just relax. It is a good place for drinks, or for breakfast. There is a dumbwaiter to the kitchen. The patio is one of the entrances to the house, and is a sheltered place to enjoy siting outside In both of these places one can watch a good movie in a summer night. We offer breakfast and cleaning is included, on a daily basis. The owner may be staying on his own bedroom. Óbidos is a unique place for spending a vacation. You can walk everywhere and get lost in the medieval streets, taking the time to observe the detailed architecture of its buildings, churches and squares. Every corner holds a potential surprise; the hilltop location, sloping topography, and surrounding castle walls, offer contrasting views of narrow streets against a backdrop of open territory beyond. The many bookshops found inside the village (belonging to the Óbidos Literary Village Program) are a destination to explore for who is interested in discovering contemporary authors or old books long out of print. Óbidos is 80 km North of Lisbon, reached by car, A8 highway. There is a direct bus,(Rodoviária do Tejo, leaving from Campo Grande subway station in Lisbon) which stops near the Town entrance. To explore the region a car is convenient. Access inside the walls is restricted to loading and unloading the car, but ample parking is available. Circulation inside the house requires going up and down stairs, to go from one building to the other. It is an old building with open banisters, not appropriate for small children. The entrance to this bedroom is through the patio adjacent to the street.
