Union Bank Arts Centre in the heart of Clunes

The Union Bank Arts Centre is a truly unique property with the historic Bank Building that accommodates up to 10 guests and a beautiful architecturally designed Arts Studio that is perfect for Artist workshops. The Bank... Wonderful Historic Bank built in 1865 that sits in the heart of town, walking distance to shops, supermarket, museum, cafes, restaurants and pub. It is the perfect spot to explore the gorgeous historic town of Clunes. Featuring two bathrooms and four bedrooms, all with heating, bed linen and towels, it sleeps up to 10 guests and makes a fabulous getaway for Families and Artist retreats. There is a very large fully equipped kitchen that comfortably seats 10 - 12 guests and comes equipped with an IXL slow combustion wood stove plus additional freestanding induction electric stove for convenience, dishwasher, microwave, family sized fridge and freezer, Blu tooth radio, tea, coffee and basic cooking essentials. The extra large lounge room is perfect for relaxing, playing games, reading books and of course tv. All bedrooms, lounge and kitchen have wall heating. During July and August we supply wood and fire lighters for the wood heater in the lounge. Due to a small stair case and the historic nature of the building the Bank is unfortunately not suitable for wheel chair access. The Bank is always spotlessly cleaned between guests and I would like you to feel rest assured that in response to the covid 19 we are ensuring all high contact areas such as door knobs, table tops, chair tops, appliance knobs and all handles are also being sanitized between guests. WiFi is not available. Phone data is accessible, but does drop in and out on occasions. The Studio... (extra cost please enquire) Big and spacious, filled with natural light it is ideal for a variety of Artists workshops including visual arts, quilting, ceramics, music, theatre and dance rehearsal and production. The studio comes equipped with trestle tables, chairs, easels, tea and coffee facilities that can be easily accessed if required. It also has a separate toilet, heating and cooling. Do note that the use of Studio space is an additional cost please contact the host. Guests have access to the Bank building and backyard. Studio access is extra cost please contact host. I will not be available in person but easily contactable via phone. The Dja Dja Wurrung people are the Traditional land owners of Clunes, we pay respect to elder's past, present and future. Clunes is renowned for being the first "gold rush town" its streets are filled with 19th century architecture that is beautifully preserved & simply walking around town, fills one's heart with nostalgia. In present day, Clunes is an international Booktown, the only booktown in the southern hemisphere. Please see internet clunesbooktown for details. On top of all this, it has wonderful town's folk and a thriving Arts Community and is really a place for everyone to visit and absorb, it's truly a one of a kind in Australia. Ballarat and Daylesford are both a 30 minute drive making Clunes a great base to explore the region. Everything in town is easily accessible by foot. Hepburn Springs, Daylesford and Ballarat are approximately 30 minutes drive. There is a return train from Melbourne to Clunes once a day. There is no need for air conditioning in the Bank as it stays beautifully cool in summer and with heating in all rooms lovely and cosy in winter.
