Live the jungle-book life in this amazing two storey tree house surrounded by tropical forest! The tree house has a lovely view of the adjoining boulder garden and Pidurangala rock is a short walk away. Children and young-at-heart adults would love it! This large comfy treehouse can sleep up to 4 people. Breakfast is included in the price and you're welcome to order other meals à la carte. We have an excellent chef who is a wizard at creating the most delicious local and western meals. Back of Beyond Pidurangala is just 5 minutes from Sigiriya rock and Pidurangala rock is right next door. It has been named 'Kurulu Uyana' (Bird Park) by the locals as it is nestled in a 4 acre forest full of the most magical tropical bird life. Our spacious tree house is ideal for couples or for families. The large sleeping deck has more than enough space for 4 adults or 2 adults + 2 children. Your sleeping deck lies above the tree canopy so you can enjoy a lovely view of the surrounding area including the adjoining boulder garden, Pidurangala rock, and a wide variety of indigenous trees and birds. Wake up to the sounds of nature's orchestra of birds and fall asleep to the gentle hum of crickets and the wind gently whistling through the trees. There are 2 other cottages and a 3 bedroom bungalow in this property as well as a common restaurant and lounge areas. This property is called Back of Beyond Jungle Hideaway. Guests have access to the 4 acre property and all the common areas including the living room, restaurant and lounge areas. I am based in Colombo, however we have a manager, resident naturalist, chef, and other service staff who will take care of you during your stay. The retreat is situated in a lovely forest with a wide variety of birds. It is an excellent location to explore the surroundings, including Sigiriya and Pidurangala rocks. Minneriya National Park, famous for its elephant gathering is only 30 minutes from the retreat. There is public transport up to Sigiriya. You can take a tuk tuk (5 minute ride) to our retreat. Drivers accommodation and meals are provided at USD 10 per night. We do not sell alcohol on the premises - you are welcome to bring your own. Preserving the natural environment is important to us. We have retained the natural topography and vegetation that is unique to each property, and have avoided clearing land when building our lodges. We have tried to use modern methods of environmentally conscious construction and consistently practice sustainable energy use. Back of Beyond properties leave a major proportion of the land untouched, or rejuvenated as a wild habitat where needed. We are discovering how critical these ‘wild pockets’ are as refuges for wildlife, as man increasingly takes control of the natural landscape - even in the most remote areas. Please note that it is best to observe any wildlife silently with minimal disturbance to their natural activities. By making the reservation, guests have acknowledged and accepted that they are entering a wildlife area, staying in an unfenced property, and that their stay / tours conducted might take or bring them into contact or vicinity of wild animals (including snakes, spiders, wild boar, elephants etc.).
