Unique one bedroom dairy conversion
Recently renovated, this unique, one bedroom historic property is situated in the rear corner of what was once the Oakleigh Dairy. Close to public transport, great coffee, shops, parks and bike paths it a wonderful destination in itself, or springboard to all that Melbourne has to offer. Access the dairy by going up the driveway into no 2/53. It is on the right hand side. Our house is the red weatherboard one on the left. The house at the front, 1/53, is a private residence. We have endeavoured to combine the unique features of an old dairy (a sloping concrete floor!) with every modern convenience. The bedroom and hall are fully carpeted, and the bathroom has underfloor heating. Please use the fan when showering. The open plan living/kitchen/dining has reverse cycle heating/cooling that extends to the rest of the property, and the small kitchen is set up with a dual induction hot plates and microwave. There is also an electric kettle, toaster and sandwich press. You are welcome to use the shared courtyard off the bedroom, or sit on the small stone seat infront of the limes. The small garden is for you to look at and enjoy! We live in the adjacent stables areas and will be happy to answer any questions and help in any way we can. We are long time airbnb users, both in Australia and overseas, and know from experience how beneficial personal contact can be. We love the area and have lived here for over 35 years! The nearby Oakleigh shopping centre is fabulous for both fresh food and restaurants, particularly Greek ones. Chadstone shopping centre is 10 minutes walk away. There are good parks nearby, and the recently installed sky rail provides both excellent walking/cycling on its 'underline'. Access to both Oakleigh and Hughesdale rail stations provide seamless travel into Melbourne, and the Oakleigh public transport hub provides buses to Monash University and all over Melbourne. It is also possible to ride all the way into Melbourne itself (about 19km of very pleasant bike path). When travelling further afield you can access the Victorian regional train service (V-line) from either Clayton or Caulfield stations. For car drivers it is a quick jump to the freeway (tolled) where you can drive to the airport in 30minutes (not peak hour!) and all regional centres. without stopping. Car parking is on street only.
