Countryside farm house in cork tree woods

Typical Alentejo farm in the middle of a 52ha property of beautiful cork tree and evergreen oak woods. Extremely quiet and magical You are free to explore the whole property, where cows and sheep permanently graze. Nature lovers will enjoy encounters with foxes, rabbits, badgers and many birds You can relax in the big whitewashed water-tank, converted into a beautiful swiming pool, and, if I'm around, why not help me bake bread in the old wood woven or take honey from the beehive? The farm's isolation, quietness and it's spontaneous invitation for an intimate contact with nature are it's most distinguished features. These aspects are reinforced by the farm's location: the house lies in a small land depression, surrounded by cork and holm oaks woods, which hide and cuddle it. This place is very dear to me. Perhaps because I love it, not a single week passes without me introducing some new improvement to the house or planting a new tree. I also like to share the farm and it's beauty. Thus, there are often nice or curious traces left behind by people passing by. I prefer natural materials and handmade objects and I am gradually trying to bring the house closer to this ideal. The guests can access the whole space, including the forest, the walnut orchard, the two houses, the bread woven, the cereal field, the water-tank/swiming pool, the vegetable garden, and the 80m2 earthen platform. I will always be present at the arrival but I will not always be present during the guest's stays (and, depending on the dates, I might also accept requests to leave the farm). I will pick the guests in Arcos's vilage plaza, in fronte of Café Tobias, at the appointed time between us. There is no neighborhood :) Buses to Estremoz (8km from the property) and then cabs/taxis. In order to arrive to the farm it is necessary to drive 1.5km through a dirt road. Extremely low cars can circulate perfectly, although cautious driving is advised. Two km from Arcos, a village where it is possible to buy bread and groceries, 10min by car from both Estremoz and beautiful Vila Viçosa. Saturday's flea-market in Estremoz is unmissable, as are the mesmerizing eighty meter deep marble mine holes, which are free to visit every weekday. Historically and archeologically, Estremoz, Vila Viçosa and Borba offer inumerous possibilities, ranging between castles, small churches, cathedrals, museums and neolithic sites. Garrison Border Town of Elvas and its Fortifications and the Historic Centre of Évora are both UNESCO World Heritage Centre and only a half and hour drive away.
