part historic shop residence (c. 1860) part modern retreat, our casa is the perfect space to get away to relax, write, read, disconnect or connect. enjoy the convenience of our central location with all that clunes has to offer right on your doorstep before retreating to the privacy of our quiet and sunny residence. picturesque streets lined with carefully preserved architecture provide the perfect backdrop to experiencing the vibrant booktown, goldfields and nearby daylesford. @casa.clunes original red bricks meet modern weatherboard where our unique property has been carefully extended. what was once an original shop residence has been restored and converted into a two bedroom, two lounge room residence with an abundance of original features such as pressed metal ceilings, three open fireplaces and hard wood timber floors. our space has been flexibly furnished to suit weekend getaways, writing retreats or longer business travel. we have two queen sized bedrooms (one in an open mezzanine style), a cosy lounge with open fireplace, a modern bathroom with claw foot bath, a well equipped kitchen with dining table, sitting room / study with vintage cane egg chairs (perfect for reading), private courtyard and sunny balcony. for creatives looking to immerse themselves in the vibrant literary scene of australia's only official booktown, we have a well stocked desk ready for you to research, write and edit. carefully considered inclusions: - fast wifi connection - all the timber, firelighters and kindling you will need - a well stocked kitchen with all the essentials - an array of games from chess to scrabble - bathroom essentials - washing machine & dryer - plenty of books (fiction, non-fiction,) - an additional single sofa bed available on request - limited clothing storage & hanging space carefully considered exclusions: - we do not have a television! we really recommend you use this time more wisely but you can always stream from your laptop if you must - pet ammenities. we do not allow any furry friends in our property you will have full access to our residence with only a small amount of storage to be locked. the shopfront is completely seperate and is available as an additional short term rental if available. we are unlikely to be available to meet in person but will only ever be a phone call or text message away! you will be surrounded by the most lovely locals who are full of great advice should you need any clunes has something for everyone from it's vibrant literary scene (monthly booktown author talks, an annual booktown festival and an abudance of local authors), vast history, delicious local produce and a welcoming social scene. all of our favourite places sit on or around the historic fraser street including: - the super trendy local cafe & restaurant Criterion for breakfast, lunch & dinner - the many local antique shops full of treasures from across the globe - the red door gallery features the best of the local talent with amazing clunes pottery - longview meats for sustainable local produce we are walking distance from the local train station (900m) and the bus from creswick / ballarat / maryborough stops right at our doorstep! there is plenty of street parking right out the front please note that there are elements of our property that are not entirely children friendly such as open fireplaces, half height walls and a full flight of stairs. our second, mezzanine style bedroom features a small window with no blind which can let in some morning sun so is not completely dark in the mornings. we are surrounded by beautiful native birds who are typically quite early risers (some of whom like to hang out in our roof) so light sleepers may find it difficult to sleep in in the mornings.
