A former weaver's cottage located in the heart of the village. It's a short stroll to the Black Bull Hotel, the Church, the Village Hall and a well-stocked Community Shop. Ideal base for walking, cycling, fishing, star gazing or exploring the area with its many castles and golf courses. Glasgow is only an hour away and the Isle of Arran is a perfect day out. We've two double bedrooms, one downstairs. Shower room is located downstairs. Kitchen is very well equipped: electric cooker with ceramic hob, dishwasher, microwave, toaster, kettle, stick blender, washing machine and a separate pantry with more utensils and fridge and freezer. Our sitting/diningroom has TV, basic Sky package, BT Sports, DVD player, films, books and games. Best of all it has a large open fire, perfect for cosy nights in. The whole house is for exclusive use of guests and a south-facing patio area (not enclosed) at the rear of the property. We respect our guests privacy, however, should they want information or help we are on hand. Straiton is a very picturesque village with strong sense of community and an old world charm. Visitors are made to feel welcome at village events such as Fun Day, and Whist evenings in the Hall. There are some lovely walks along the river, by some waterfalls and, for the more adventurous, up and across the hills. Great for birdwatching, wild life spotting and star gazing. The Dark Sky Park is next to the village and the Scottish Dark Sky Observatory not far away and has a full programme of events. There is a bus service from Ayr every 2 hours and the nearest train station is 7 miles away in Maybole where there are also a couple of taxi companies. Roads are quiet for cycling and driving. Occasional noise from traffic. There is a back lane which is also a public right of way.
