This cosy, well-equipped cottage is set a village, away from any holiday parks. A sandy beach, coastal path and all else Pembrokeshire has to offer are nearby. At the end of your day you'll look forward to returning to our much-loved cottage. You can sit back and put your feet up. Hungry? No need to drive - just step out to the nearby pub or hotel for some freshly cooked local food. Maybe later you'll catch up with some reading or watch a box set on TV, before retiring to your comfortable bed. As a couple and as a family we've stayed in cottages ourselves about three times a year for at least thirty years. We've strived to use this knowledge to set up our cottage how we'd like to find somewhere ourselves - and more. For instance, though we aren't bakers, you'll find one drawer in the kitchen full of baking equipment. The cottage isn't in a holiday village, nor is it a purpose-built holiday flat, so you won't be surrounded by other holidaymakers. Beyond hand soap we don't supply personal toiletries, but we hopefully have everything else that you'll need - linen (we use 200 thread John Lewis bedding), towels, beach towels, hairdryer, toilet paper, kitchen roll, dishwasher tablets, washing up liquid, plus more. You'll find a welcome pack that includes bread, milk, eggs, spread, tea, coffee and sugar. WiFi in the cottage is unlimited and very fast. We strive to maintain the property to a very high standard and as a result guests have always responded by showing respect in their use of the cottage. The full house is exclusively available, but please note that there is no private garden or yard. Opposite the house is a grassy area where you can sit outside on wooden seating, or give your dog some exercise, and nearby is a play area to allow little ones to let off some steam. Downstairs is a living area, containing two sofas (one with manual recliners), 40 inch smart TV with Freeview, Catch-up, Netflix, and Amazon Prime. The dining table has enough room for 4. In case one of your party suffers from hay fever we've installed an air filter for your use to ensure that the air inside the house is clear of pollen. There is a galley-style kitchen, comprising fridge-freezer, single oven, microwave oven, washer-dryer, dishwasher, and induction hob. The (only) bathroom is also downstairs. There is a single step into the bathroom, which has an 11kW electric shower to provide plenty of hot water at all times, without people having to wait. Upstairs there are two bedrooms. The front bedroom is of ample size, and has a king size bed with a good quality mattress. A bucket seat sits next to one of the windows, providing you with clear Pembrokeshire light for reading. There is a 32 inch Freeview TV that you can watch in bed, and a DVD player which can also be used downstairs. Though effective, the blinds are not blackout. The back bedroom has two full size single beds, which are suitable for adults. There is a single Velux window which does have a blackout blind. The upstairs areas are all carpeted. Please note that the cottage has no upstairs bathroom, and no garden or outside area available. Parking isn't an issue - most people leave their car on the road right outside the cottage, but our drive next door is also available, as is the village hall car park (50m) and the pub car park. The cottage is heated by storage heaters, so remains warm 24 hours per day. You have complete control of the temperature. If you have an EV or a PHEV, we've got dedicated 7kw (type 2 Menekes untethered) and 13A charging points exclusively for your use. Trish and I live next door. We will be there to greet you on arrival, and take a few minutes to show you things such as how to use the heating, and where the cutlery tray is hidden in the dishwasher! Though we'll not disturb you during your stay, we're friendly people, and you're always welcome to ask for any help or advice you need. Incidentally, though you are next door to us, you are isolated from us by over a metre of stone wall! Lamphey is one of the two sought-after residential villages in Pembrokeshire. It's ideal for visitors, because it's right in the centre - nowhere in South Pembrokeshire is more than 20 minutes drive away, and you're only six minutes away from the fantastic Freshwater East Beach. There are two hotels with restaurants and bars in the village. You are also next door to the village pub, which, when it's open, does excellent cuisine. No one who has stayed has found noise from the pub to be a problem - the walls are thick, and anyway, it's not that sort of place! There is an enclosed play park just 2 minutes walk away. As well as a choice of about 10 sandy beaches, the cottage adjoins the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park, with the path itself within 2 miles of the doorstep. For families, there is a host of attractions, including Folly Farm and Manor House Wildlife Park. The bustling pretty town of Tenby is nearby, where you can explore the narrow streets, or even take a boat trip to the islands. A well stocked village shop with garage facilities is within walking distance. You really do need a car to get around. Lamphey has a railway station, with trains to Pembroke and Pembroke Dock, and in the other direction to Tenby and beyond. It's a request stop - to get on, hold your hand out (just like stopping a bus) and to get off here , tell the ticket collector. There are also buses, including a 'coastal special'. Taxis are relatively cheap, but if you're using one for an evening out in Tenby for instance, book one in advance. We are both vulnerable, so we're being especially careful about covid. We are open for bookings, but as soon as someone does book we block off a period of time after their stay. We wait a couple of days to do the changeover, including all disinfection procedures. We then leave the cottage empty for a few days before the next guests arrive.
