Fishing and water skiing 10 min away at Clarencetown The Dungog Common comprises 650 acres reserved for communal recreational use and environmental protection. With over 30 kilometres of cross-country mountain bike trail, and purpose-built flow trail, the Dungog Common is fast becoming a leading mountain biking destination. Cars or bikes are needed. Wallarobba train station is 4k’s down the road, a local bus service or taxis have not made it to Wallarobba as yet so an Uber is probably out of the question too. However, if you’re here just for a quiet weekend on the property or a Hunter Valley wine tour we can facilitate your transfers from and to the station. Cast a lure into the dam and try for an Australian bass, there are some big ones in there. Wander around the front of the property or sit on the veranda for a bit of native bird watching and listen to their beautiful songs. Grab some carrots and feed the horses over the fence to the back paddock. If you rise early you may get to snap a pic of the wallabies feeding in the front yard, however, move slowly and quietly as they are shy. If you’re the active type bring your bike or runners and ride, run or hike the length of Welshmans Creek Road. It’s mostly a dirt road meandering through farmland over rolling hills. There is the odd gate, however, it’s a public road mostly devoid of traffic so shut the gates and enjoy the scenery.
