A three bedroom property with all accommodation on one level reached by 4 steps, it sleeps six people comfortably. Set in its own secluded garden beside the historic walled garden looking onto fields grazed by sheep, this sunny, warm spacious cottage is ideal for couples, bird-watchers, family holidays, walkers, fishermen and golfers. Access to walks in the extensive grounds, which include woodland, hill vistas and a splendid lake. Hard Tennis court available (may not be in top condition!) Please bring your own rackets and balls. Supplier contacts can be provided for specialist outdoor activities such as archery, falconry and mini-highland games. The village of Duns, offering a good selection amenities (supermarket, shops, restaurants, library, public swimming pool, health centre etc), is only 10 minutes walk away. Property details: All situated on the Ground floor: living room, dining room, kitchen, three bedrooms (one kingsize with ensuite bathroom and power shower cubicle, a second double bedroom and one twin room), family bathroom with bath, power shower cubicle and toilet, utility room. No smoking and no pets please. Cedar Cottage is set in its own secluded garden beside Duns Castle Estate’s historic walled garden and looks onto fields grazed by sheep. This sunny, warm, spacious cottage is ideal for couples, bird-watchers, family holidays, walkers, fishermen and golfers and is also right beside the Estate’s private tennis court. Duns Castle itself is visible from the cottage and, just a short walk away, guests can enjoy Duns Castle Estate’s private grounds, frequented by Swans, Ducks and other wildfowl, and Duns Law, site of the old town of Duns and the Covenanter Fort. Today, cattle and sheep are often to be seen grazing upon its slopes. Cedar Cottage also sits on the edge of woodland, with access to extensive forest trails and a large variety of mature trees, many bearing identification plates to inspire the curious. The woods are home to Roe Deer, Pheasants, Squirrels and Owls. The cottage itself is easily accessible, yet secluded and guests can often enjoy starlit nights and bathe in the tranquillity of it all. Guests have access to the entire Cottage as well as the Cottage’s private garden. The Cottage is one of Duns Castle Estate’s holiday cottages and guests are also free to roam the (Phone number hidden by Airbnb) acre estate with the exception of the private grounds of the castle, the walled garden and the private garden of each of the other cottages on the estate. There is always someone at the castle. In addition to local Trout and Salmon fishing, there is much to see and do locally. There are golf courses suited to every style and level, secluded sandy beaches within 30 minutes drive, horse-riding, quad-biking and much more. Guests may also wish to visit local landmarks such as Abbotsford House (the home of Sir Walter Scott) and other stately homes such as Manderston House and Floors Castle, explore neighbouring market towns of Kelso, Melrose, Jedburgh or Hawick (famous for Cashmere) or arrange a tour of Glenkinchie Distillery or Rosslyn Chapel (made famous in Dan Brown's Da Vinci Code). There are always many local cultural events taking place, including Reivers Week in July, The Duns Show in early August and the Borders Heritage Festival in September. With all of this and Edinburgh's famous International Festivals and Hogmanay celebrations, guests are spoiled for choice. Duns Castle Estate is located on the edge of the small town of Duns in the Scottish Borders with regular bus services to Berwick-upon-Tweed and Galashiels, both with train stations and commercial centres. The property is within easy reach of the cities and international airports of Edinburgh (1 hour), Newcastle (75 mins) and Glasgow (90 mins). Duns is only 25 minutes drive from Berwick-upon-Tweed, just 3.5 hours by train from London (Kings Cross).
