Rural Getaway
COVID compliance for anyone outside the State of Vermont: Until further notice, plan on having to quarantine for 14 days before arriving here. My place is close to the little city of Vergennes, Basin Harbor, Lake Champlain. The space is good for couples, solo adventurers, and your furry friends (pets). This is a rural setting, on a river, in the midst of a wildlife management area, surrounded by farming operations. Entomophobes be aware I do not use pesticides but do have good screens! We are located directly on Otter Creek 1.5 miles from Lake Champlain adjacent to the Lower Otter Creek Wildlife Management Area. The finished apartment above our garage features a full kitchen and new bath. There is a parking spot for guests and private entry. The entire apartment is yours. The kitchen has a refrigerator, double sink, gas stovetop, oven & broiler, and silverware, plates, utensils, pots & pans, everything you might need to prepare a meal. For your basic culinary needs there is oil, vinegar, soy, sugar, salt&pepper stocked. There's a coffee-maker and complimentary coffee and tea. We don't offer breakfast but maybe there will be fresh chicken eggs for you to cook! We look forward to meeting you and learning what you need to make your stay enjoyable. Since we live here, there is usually someone around most of the time if you need anything. You're free to come and go as you please. Our neighborhood has nearby homes, other dogs and cats, and our chickens reside in the yard facing your entrance to the apartment. This is truly a rural setting and wild animals such as opossums, raccoons, skunks, and foxes are often spotted. Flying and crawling insects are part of the balance of country life. Annoying as they may be, we do not use pesticides/insecticides. You can launch a kayak nearby and the surrounding area is prime for bicycling. There is no public transportation available out this way but you can catch a bus to Burlington from Vergennes. There is a taxi service and I've seen Uber around. Your well-mannered dog is welcome as long as the squirrels and chipmunks won't drive him/her crazy. We have chickens - fenced in but out foraging in the afternoons. This is a rural location and we've no control over bugs, wildlife or when the farmers spray manure.
