Peak View Retreat
Welcome to your luxurious mountain top retreat, set amidst 150 acres of native bush in a spectacular wilderness location. You will enjoy absolute privacy, peace and quiet. Peak View is a place to really slow down, switch off and stay in luxurious comfort while being surrounded by and immersed in nature. Architecturally designed the two bedroom property was crafted from native timbers taken from the land and milled on site. The two bedroom suites have a super king and queen bed and each has their own private ensuite with bath tubs. Open plan living with floor to ceiling glass windows enables uninterrupted 360 degree views of the surrounding landscape. Enjoy gazing out over native forest to the Richmond ranges, Pepin Island, Cable Bay and the Abel Tasman across the bay… The entire home is exclusively yours to enjoy, we are located in a semi remote location on the top of a mountain, but only a 45 minute drive from Nelson (you do need a vehicle to get here and get around). We recommend you bring food to self-cater as the closest supermarket is in Nelson. We will meet you on arrival at the bottom of the mountain and show you up the first time. We will give you a brief rundown of the property and region and show you how to operate your wood fired tub, then we’ll leave you to it. We will be available on the property if there’s anything you need, you will have complete privacy at the Retreat. Cable Bay, the adventure playground of Nelson! We love it for its wild rugged beauty, the Kayak tours around Pepin Island are a must do it’s an absolute highlight and also the adventure park has numerous fun activities to get the Adrenalin pumping and a great little cafe. Also the Cable Bay Walkway (closes over lambing season in Spring) but a great local hike to do, it is a one way hike but park at the beach and just go as far as you want to then head back the way you came. Havelock -gateway to the Marlborough sounds is about a 45min drive away and a fantastic day trip. Picton is just over an hour - we recommend getting out on the water take the Cougar lines water taxi into the Queen Charlotte sounds for some day hiking or lunch at a lodge, OR the Pelorous Mail Boat trip is a great day out and leaves from Havelock. A drive to the Abel Tasman is about 1 hr 45 minutes, there's lots of options to visit this area though including a Heli-Tour from the Retreat - just ask if you need some help or advice on planning your activities. You need a vehicle to stay here and get around, alternatively we can organise private Helicopter transfers and you can do a wide variety of Heli-Tours from Peak View (weather dependant). Our driveway is a gravel road for 5.5kms up the mountain, it is a classic old school kiwi road, it’ll take you back in time if you’re from around here. If you’re from further afield it can be a bumpy adventure so we recommend a comfortable vehicle like an SUV. Trust us the journey is worth it!
