A tranquil, pretty cottage with stunning views, private garden and BBQ, in the picturesque village of Fownhope, near the River Wye. Sit in comfort contemplating the outstanding natural beauty with all its wildlife. Superbly situated for walking, cycling, canoeing, fishing or bird watching. Lock up garage to store equipment. Stroll along the lane to two pubs for drinks and meals. Central to other interesting villages. Strict cleaning protocol followed. NO CLEANING CHARGE. At the end of a quiet lane, drive into the spacious parking area and enter Ferryboat Cottage through your private blue front door to the open plan sitting-room and kitchen. It is self-catering, but, milk, eggs, bread, tea and coffee await. Immediately appreciate the stunning views over fields towards the church steeple and hills beyond. The staircase leads down to the bedroom - with a super king sized bed which can be separated to make two single beds, and great view of garden. The bathroom, including both shower and bath, is beside the sitting-room. Through the back door you can sit in the sun on the private patio, and a few steps below, a stream passes through your private garden, as well as another wild grass area across the bridge. A large lockup garage is available for bikes, canoes or fishing equipment. Upon request you may have your own key. There is ample parking for vehicles and space for working on the equipment you may want to bring for activities. We are here to help if required, or contactable by phone. From the moment you step outside the world (or Fownhope) is your oyster. Enjoy a drink or meal in either of the two pubs or Wye Leisure Health Club after exploring the mysterious Haugh woods, strolling along the banks of the River Wye, or even paddling your way down in a canoe hired from nearby Luxhall. Maps will guide you through endless, ever-changing terrain - become one with nature. Beauty treatments can be booked in advance at Wye Leisure Health Spa and with the church, playing fields and swings, medical centre, well stocked local shop and a butcher in the village, one could argue that there's something for everyone in Fownhope! And the adventure doesn't end there. Within a short drive or a cycle ride you can visit Hereford (Mappa Mundi), Ledbury, Brockhampton Arts and Crafts church, Much Marcle Cider Mill, Ross-on-Wye, Hay-on-Wye (for Hay festival and book lovers), Malvern and many other interesting sites and seasonal events (all listed in your information packs). There are local buses, but so much can be achieved on foot or on a bike. The cottage is not suitable for toddlers due to steps and stream. It is advisable to reserve tables in advance at any pubs or restaurants in the area.
