16th Century Grade II Listed barn

Converted barn (self catering) with views of the Tor, large sitting room with log burner & open plan kitchen. Enjoy a peaceful nights sleep in the super king size bed. Outdoor swimming pool (available throughout the year). This self contained cottage is an annex to the farmhouse. Tennis & badminton courts as well as croquet available (weather permitting). Peaceful location in the heart of the Somerset countryside. Wonderful self contained unit including an open plan sitting room/kitchen with vaulted ceilings and woodburner. There is a fully functional kitchen with everything you need to cater for yourself. In the bedroom we have a super king size zip & link double bed. Many guests have commented how comfortable it is and the cottage has a very peaceful atmosphere about it. The Cottage is attached (annex) to the farmhouse. The house is built from the ruins of Glastonbury Abbey! Outside - private lavender garden. Wi-fi: We do not have super fast fibre optic. We happily use it for Facetime/Zoom. Mobile phone reception inside the cottage can be weak because of the thickness of the walls. O2 is good in our area. You have full access to the grounds but be mindful of the horses. There is plenty of parking outside the cottage. Glastonbury and Street within 10 minutes by car, approximately 45 - 60 minute walk. Other popular places that our guests have visited - Wells (20 mins drive), Bath (45 mins), Lyme Regis (45 mins), Cheddar Gorge (40 mins). The local pub, The Lion is a 20/30 minute walk. We have a list of other nearby pubs and restaurants on our website. We also have a list of local taxi companies . As much or little as our guests wish. Our sheep and chickens roam freely whilst we also have horses in the paddocks. The setting is extremely peaceful and at night you can hear the owls see the stars in the sky as its so clear. Rural location - a car is essential. If you decide to travel by train to Castle Carey, we might be able to pick-up/drop-off if we are able otherwise there is a good taxi service available at the station. We may also be able to collect you from Bristol airport but again, this depends on our availability. Please feel free to enquire. Glastonbury is 10 minutes by car (approx 4 miles) and to walk there will take 45 to 60 minutes depending on the route - either across the moor or via the main road and its narrow pavement. We will try to meet you on your arrival, but if this is not possible, instructions will be left for you for gaining access - the cottage keys are kept in the secure key lockbox. The outdoor swimming pool (not heated by heat pump etc) is available throughout the year (but check prior to your booking). For your safety please do not dive/jump in as it's only 4' deep. Please bring your own swimming towels. We have a grass tennis court and badminton court. Please note that neither court is professionally laid out and the surface is uneven but fun to play on. There is also a croquet lawn. We also have membership of a local all weather tennis court at Keinton Mandeville Tennis Club - 10 minute drive. You are welcome to use it but to guarantee a time slot, it should be booked in advance. Don't forget your travel insurance. We have Airbnb's strict cancellation policy in place.
