Our house sits within a large park like area in the centre of the medieval town. The stone walled gardens sit on the banks of the River Vienne adjacent to one of the oldest bridges in France. The large gardens lead to a beautiful terrace on the river bank. Our Chambres d'hotes has been completely renovated and has a wonderful Tearoom and art gallery attached.. Every room has a view of the river and all rooms have luxury en-suites. Pont Vieux Chambres d'hotes is located at the end of a 12th century bridge with direct access to the river. The gardens are situated in a tranquil, beautiful park-like area, yet 2 minutes walk from the town centre. Medieval houses in cobbled streets.... a fountain... an art gallery... this is the Fontorse. Pont Vieux is in the heart of the oldest part of the town steeped in history. You have a fully equipped kitchen at your disposal to cook meals and an outdoor BBQ. You could however should you wish enjoy a wholesome varied breakfast (extra cost) in our beautiful Tearoom with as much tea and coffee as you want or if you desire you can take your breakfast to a table overlooking the 12th century bridge and the medieval town of Confolens and relax beside the waters edge. We live next door and run the lovely ARThé Tearoom and art gallery which is on then ground floor level. We are available at all times; CONFOLENS is situated on the banks of the river Vienne in the CHARENTE region... a land of oak and granite, filled with rivers and wooded valleys. This is an area of outstanding natural beauty....a photographer's or artist's dream. The climate in this region is second only to the South of France. There are many walks and cycle rides through miles of unspoilt countryside. The Town is totally walkable but you can be in beautiful open countryside within minutes.
