The picturesque village of Saint Simeux with historic sites is just a pleasant stroll away. Popular with cyclists, the local countryside is mostly cognac vineyards and rolling fields of sunflowers and corn. For those keen to explore, your base will be 30km from Cognac and 20km from Angoulême. While a car is recommended, there's a bus stop in Saint Simeux and a train station in Châteauneuf. If you want a day trip further afield, you can catch the fast train to Paris from Angoulême in just 2 hours.
