Rural Cottage with Pool between Tours and Le Mans

Beautiful old cottage with private garden and use of heated pool, sitting on the edge of the small village of St-Pierre-de-Chevillé. Totally surrounded by our meadows, the property offers complete tranquility, whilst still being conveniently situated between Tours (40Km) and Le Mans (50Km), thus offering easy access to many chateaux, the 24h racing circuit and innumerable other sites of interest in both Touraine and the Vallée de Loir. We are just 10km from junction 26 of the A28 autoroute. The Cottage au Bois Gauthier comprises two well-sized bedrooms, a traditional, rustic living room with log-burner and a large and airy country kitchen, plus separate WC and shower rooms. The main bedroom boasts a giant superking bed and can easily accommodate an additional travel cot. The second bedroom is of a similar size and has two single beds, with space for a third bed, which we provide in the form of a very comfy camp-bed. Both rooms look out onto the cottage’s garden and the surrounding nature. The property has both French TV and UK Freesat channels and high-speed fibre internet. The kitchen is well-equipped with a cooker, fridge-freezer, microwave, dishwasher and coffee machine, plus all necessary crockery and kitchenware. There is also a washing machine and for our smallest guests, we can provide an infant bundle comprising of high-quality travel cot, playmat, high-chair, training potty, baby bath. Safety gates are additionally installed at the top and bottom of the stairs. The cottage has a private garden, where you can relax and enjoy the calm of the surrounding countryside. Through a gate in the garden is our heated pool, which is nestled behind the farm’s old stables and a small orchard of fruit trees. Around the grounds you can find our big draft horse and tiny Shetland pony grazing the fields, several very busy chickens free-ranging, a friendly farm cat and our lovely Border Collie dog. Access to the pool is via the garden and the pool space is shared with the owners. The pool is open from around mid-May to end-September, once the daytime temperature is consistently above 22° C. We live in the old farmhouse on the property, which is a short walk around the corner from the cottage. There is generally one of us around the farm at any time. St-Pierre-de-Chevillé is a very welcoming small village, with a post office, small bar/tabac and a boulangerie, which also doubles as a small village shop. There are several walking routes which begin in the village square and cycling routes pass through the village, offering a glimpse of some of the unique troglodyte dwellings in the area and the many apple orchards of the region. The village carries a 4* rating for its dark skies and absence of light pollution, making it also a beautiful area for star-gazing. There are several excellent swimming lakes, plus indoor and outdoor pools within a short drive from the cottage and we are only a short drive from the wonderful forest of Bercé. We are 8km from the town of Chateau-du-Loir, which offers restaurants, supermarkets and shops, plus train and bus stations. We are also only 10km from junction 26 of the A28 autoroute, making us very easily accessible by car, and under 40km (40 minutes) from Tours Val du Loire Airport. The property is set back about 250m from the main road and is accessed by an unpaved farm track.
