Papasidero, small center of 765 inhabitants, is located on the Tyrrhenian side of Calabria, about 20 km from Scalea and 25 km from the Mormanno’s motorway exit. The Byzantine village is in a historic and peaceful hillside at 250 sea level , and preserves the remains of a Norman castle and the Sanctuary of Santa Maria of Constantinople, which preserves frescoes of 1300 and the chapel of Santa Sophia with the beautiful fresco of Madonna and Child. Exit : MORMANNO and after 20 Km you will arrive in Papasidero. You can park free in the centre of the village. -> WITHOUT CAR : The best way from Rome or other big city is the TRAINS. You will arrive to Scalea station and after you will catch the bus to Papasidero. In 40 minutes you will reach the village. You can arrive in Scalea also by LONG-DISTANCES BUSES that depart from Rome/Naples for example and arrive in Scalea (approx. 25 €). From Scalea to Papasidero (19 Km and about 40 minutes), the bus company is : autolinee TNC Nord Calabria srl. From STAZIONE FERROVIARIA DI SCALEA to Papasidero the time-table is : 9.30 am; 1.45 pm; 2.45 pm; 5.30 pm From MORMANNO city to Papasidero the bus company is : autolinee TNC Nord Calabria srl. The bus depart from “Salita San Rocco” (20 Km and 45 minutes). The time-table is: 5,40 am; 9,25 am; 1,45 pm. in add, someone of my family can take you at the statione by car.
