Originally, it was several hundred acres but the county bought most of it for a planned lake that never happened. The old farm remains undeveloped along with the fifty acres in this listing. My grandfather and the two boys he raised here, tried their hand mostly at feed crops and cattle. On your way here, you will see a few of the old farms but mostly planned communities and golfcourses. The area around DC has changed rapidly in the past few decades. Feel free to hike around the farm. Hiking will be difficult until the corn is harvested. The farm itself does not offer any trails you could take a bicycle on but would offer a great jumping off point for some of Mt. Airy's lazier roads. Nearby Piney Run Park offers excellent kayaking, hiking, and fishing! Sleep in the silo, pitch a tent, or pull up the rv! The silo door will be unlocked. I don't offer a bathroom.
